WWE Divas: Ranking the Top 10 Divas of 2011

There are many lists regarding who the best superstar in the WWE is, but no-one ever takes a moment to think about the Divas.

They wrestle matches as well, have their own storylines and provide good entertainment along with the male employees of WWE.

We have had three Divas Champions this year alone and with the introduction of the Divas of Doom tag team (Beth Phoenix and Natalya) the division is becoming more exciting.

I have constructed a list of the best Divas of 2011 so far, ranking them in order from worst to best.

Rosa Mendes

Rosa Mendes has had an awful losing streak and it is only her victories she gained while teaming with Alicia Fox that got her onto this list.

She has had no luck in singles competition and is far from competing for the Divas Championship.

She danced with C-Lo Green at SummerSlam 2011...

Alicia Fox

Picking up a few victories throughout the year, Alicia Fox has had the worst luck out of all the competing Divas (barring Rosa Mendes) in WWE.

She was injured by Kharma, which put her out of action for three weeks, and has been unsuccessful in her quest to capture the Divas Championship.

She was drafted to SmackDown in April and has since become a face, after being attacked by tag team partner Natalya in a match on SmackDown.

Nikki Bella

Though she has failed to become a Divas Champion as of yet, Nikki Bella has had quite a successful year.

Tagging with her twin sister Brie Bella regularly, they both make sure they don’t lose matches by executing what they call “twin magic” in which one will switch places with the other, resulting in an easy win.

Despite the similarities between them, Nikki has not been as successful as her sister this year and has stood back and watched as her sibling became the Divas Champion.

Nikki did have a shot at this championship on Raw after winning a battle Royal but she was unsuccessful.

Nikki has been a heel throughout 2011.

Kharma

Kharma started the year off with a bang and looked to be shaking the foundations of the current WWE Divas division.

She dominated every Diva she came into contact with and struck fear into those who weren’t even in her sights.

Booker T was truly fearful as this behemoth ripped through the stereotypical slim blonde women that populate this flagging division.

However, after falling pregnant and having to take maternity leave, Kharma’s character was completely destroyed and we were back to normality.

This is the reason for such a low placing on the list—had she still been here, she probably would have been near the top.

Trish Stratus

Trish came back into the WWE for WrestleMania XXVII and the reality show Tough Enough.

After an initial botch, Trish showed she had not lost her touch and went on to wow the crowd at the grandest stage of them all.

She could do with coming back later in the year to challenge the Divas of Doom and possibly lead a team at Survivor Series.

Natalya

Natalya has just started to become a dominant force in the WWE once again.

Holding the Divas Championship for the first 30 days of 2011 obviously counts for something and it may not be too long before she is able to hold it again, especially if Beth Phoenix is unsuccessful at Night of Champions.

Her character development has been pretty clear to see and she was given a really good background to support her recent heel turn.

It is really since she was drafted to SmackDown that Natalya became noticeable again after dropping into obscurity after losing the Divas Championship.

Beth Phoenix

Beth Phoenix is the current No.1 Contender for the Divas Championship.

She could quite easily become the fourth person to hold it this year given the role she seems to be on. She won a Battle Royal to earn the right to face Kelly Kelly at SummerSlam 2011.

After being unsuccessful, she is looking to become champion in a rematch at Night of Champions.

She is currently one half of the Divas of Doom tag team along with Natalya, and is looking to take the place of Kharma as someone who will rock the foundations of the Divas division.

If anyone can do it, Beth can.

Brie Bella

Brie Bella was a champion for over 70 days this year before losing the Championship to Kelly Kelly.

Along with the help of her sister Nikki Bella, she went on a winning streak which saw her retain the title on countless occasions.

She has definitely been one of the best Divas of this year, doing her best to keep the matches entertaining and engaging.

When reaching out to a disinterested audience, this can be hard to pull off.

Eve

Eve held the Divas Championship for 70 days this year and had a fairly good run with it.

Though I thought her storylines were uninteresting, and she held the belt at a time where I wasn’t really bothered about the Divas division, she deserves a place on this list as she has an impeccable in-ring performance.

She is extremely good at what she does and it’s the reason she was Divas Champion for so long and also why she holds a high place on this list.

Kelly Kelly

The current Divas Champion has had an extremely successful year in terms of wins, losses and popularity.

Defeating Beth Phoenix at SummerSlam 2011 was a daunting task, but one she managed to overcome to everyone’s surprise.

She has held the belt now for approximately 80 days in total, making her the longest reigning Divas Champion this year.

She has had many successful defences of the belt, and has had some really good matches, impressing me with her ability and wrestling prowess.

Kelly Kelly deserves the top spot on this list, but will she still be here at the end of the year?
