NFL Predictions Week 1: 3 Upsets That Will Spice Up Opening Week in NFL

There are certain things that really get my blood going. The first is any movie made by Michael Bay, but a close second is dramatic upsets hitting the NFL. I will pop in Bad Boys II and record the following games in Week 1, satiating both needs.

Out of the gate, we are about to get one contest that will shock us to no end. The outcome will be the fodder for next week's radio shows and sports panels.

The other two may be a tad less dramatic, but they are upsets nonetheless. These are the games that will have us all remembering what we love about football.

Well, I guess the fans of the following teams will take exception. That is what Week 2 is for, though.

1. Dallas Cowboys

Most pundits will tell you that the New York Jets are the favorite here.

I beg to differ.

The Jets will greatly miss Braylon Edwards, hoping Plaxico Burress can flip a switch when the games matter.

The Cowboys will forget all the adversity presented to them last year. This a team fresh and renewed with defensive aspirations.

I like the Cowboys in Week 1.

2. Houston Texans

The Texans take on the Colts in a game that screams upset. The Texans are on the way up and the Colts are sliding the other way at an alarming clip.

The big question is, how will the Colts manage to win without their start quarterback, Peyton Manning?

The blunt answer is, they cannot.

3. St. Louis Rams

I am sure that this pick will garner a great deal of hate mail. It shouldn't. I will go a step further and proclaim that the Rams taking down the Eagles is not that big of an upset.

Granted, if it happens, the world will center on how the Eagles' dream team folded to a lesser squad. I do agree that the Eagles are a near-pristine club. But the Rams are a much-improved football club.

Sam Bradford now has actual receivers to target.

The defense is much improved with a line that will give the Eagles fits. You smell blowout. I smell upset. My senses are much more honed for this task.
