UFC on FOX: Ben Henderson vs. Clay Guida Added to Fight Card
The UFC on FOX fight card just keeps getting better, as it has now been revealed that the highly anticipated bout between Ben Henderson and Clay Guida has been added to the event, which will feature the heavyweight title bout between Cain Velasquez and Junior dos Santos as the main event.
A report from MMAWeekly's Damon Martin unveiled this recently-added bout for the November 12 event in Anaheim, CA.
Henderson and Guida has been rumored for awhile now and will likely be the No. 1 contenders' bout for the UFC lightweight championship. The winner of Henderson-Guida should be set to fight the winner of next month's UFC 136 main event title bout between Frankie Edgar and Gray Maynard.
Henderson, a former WEC lightweight champion, began his ascent to the top of the division by defeating Mark Bocek in dominating fashion at UFC 129. But it was his unexpected victory over Jim Miller at UFC 134 earlier this month that really shot him up the rankings into title contention.
Guida himself is on a four-fight win streak in the Octagon, including his most recent victory coming against the last man to defeat Ben Henderson, Anthony "Showtime" Pettis. Guida used dominant wrestling and effective ground-and-pound to control the high-flying 24-year-old on his way to a unanimous decision victory at The Ultimate Fighter 13 Finale.
The only odd thing about this fight is that the UFC has not yet announced a way for fans to watch. When the Velasquez vs. Dos Santos main event was revealed earlier this week, Dana White made sure to mention that the only fight that will be airing live on FOX will be the heavyweight title fight.
