Fantasy Football Week 1 Start 'Em Sit 'Em: 5 Players You Must Start
Okay, everyone obviously has those players that will be automatic starters i.e. Aaron Rodgers, Tom Brady, Adrian Peterson etc...
Well, this slide are for some players who may not be the best player at their respective position, but they're good enough to earn a start this week.
In addition, some of them may be considered "on the fence" players as they can be great starters for you at times, but not every week.
That said, check out the following five players as they should earn a start for you this week.
Matthew Stafford
1 of 5Although he's been prone to injury, and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers have a solid defense, Lions' QB Matthew Stafford deserves to start this week for your team, provided an already established QB isn't also on your team.
He's definitely the best man for being under center in Detroit, and he has an array of weapons to play with on Sundays.
WRs Calvin Johnson, rookie Titus Young, Nate Burleson, RB Jahvid Best, and TE Brandon Pettigrew are mainly the options, which are enough for him to really dominate.
Also, The Bucs' D is young, so they're also still looking to really make a name for themselves.
But Stafford has better weapons than they can account for, just as long as he gets the proper protection from his OL.
Stevie Johnson
2 of 5Whether people want to recognize it or not, Bills' QB Ryan Fitzpatrick is a solid NFL QB.
He is, however, not quite good enough to solely start for you, but will do you a favor in tossing WR Steve Johnson the rock whenever possible.
Johnson will definitely be Buffalo's most dangerous threat, as Lee Evans was shipped off to Baltimore and last season he exploded on the scene and became a household name.
This week the Bills' travel to K.C. and are obviously underdogs, but it's no reason why Johnson won't stretch the field and make plays.
Fitzpatrick is a very intelligent QB and he will find ways to make Johnson productive.
So, it's a safe bet on starting him if you're currently on the fence.
Sam Bradford
3 of 5In Week 1 the St. Louis Rams are lucky, as they play host to the Philadelphia Eagles.
And we all know what they did this offseason.
Well for anyone worried about San Bradford's productivity, it comes with good reason as he no longer has Mardy Gilyard or Donnie Avery to throw to.
In addition, Mark Clayton is on the PUP list, but Michael Sims-Walker is lined up outside.
Also, with Steven Jackson in the backfield he will surely help setup the run nicely, in turn, creating later opportunities in the passing game.
And if there's a guy you want back there, Sam Bradford isn't a bad choice.
Out of all the current young NFL QBs, he has the most potential and has definitely been the most productive.
If it's feasible, do start Bradford, as opposed to looking for a trade or into free agency.
Maurice Jones-Drew
4 of 5He remains the only established threat on the Jacksonville Jaguars' offense, and yet he still gets the job done.
Earlier on Tuesday, the Jags' released QB David Garrard, and now have Luke McCown and Blaine Gabbert as their QBs.
So, although that occurred, don't let that defer you from looking elsewhere to replace Jones-Drew.
If anything he should earn more carries to take pressure of the QB, thus helping setup the pass.
Also with Marcedes Lewis at TE, it's almost like having a sixth OL in there to block.
Don't worry, Maurice Jones-Drew will be fine.
Kyle Orton
5 of 5Although he's not a premier NFL QB, Denver's Kyle Orton has been very productive since joining the Broncos in 2009.
He's thrown for over 3,500 yards each year, and until getting benched for the final three games of 2010, was on pace for well over 4,000 yards.
That said, he has been named Denver's starter and will increase his stats in 2011 (well the good ones at least).
Not to mention, Denver hosts Oakland in Week 1 and the Raiders no longer have Nnamdi Asomugha.
Therefore, expect the Broncos to attack a bit more through the air than anticipated.
If you don't start Orton here, you may regret it later on.
