Titans vs. Jaguars: TV Schedule, Live Streaming, Radio, Game Time and More
The Tennessee Titans are heading to Florida to take on the Jacksonville Jaguars in a Week 1 AFC South showdown.
These two teams are the biggest rivals in the division and have been playing each other twice a year since the Jaguars inaugural season in 1995. They began battling in the AFC Central and then moved together to the South during realignment nine years ago.
Tennessee holds a 19-14 advantage in the 33 games the two rivals have played against one another and is looking to widen that margin when they take the field on Sunday.

Projecting Every NFL Team's Starting Lineup 🔮

Rookie WRs Who Will Outplay Their Draft Value 📈
Chris Johnson recently agreed to a massive deal with the Titans and will be taking the field for the first time this season as part of head coach Mike Munchak’s new offense. The team also added Matt Hasselbeck at QB after jettisoning Vince Young, and will look to improve upon their 6-10 record last season
The Jaguars have a similar offense to last year, with signal-caller David Garrard and powerful RB Maurice Jones-Drew anchoring that side of the ball. The team went 8-8 last year and performed above expectations. They are hoping to do even better this season with a number of new faces on defense.

What’s At Stake
AFC South Title. The AFC South looks wide open this year with the status of Peyton Manning unknown. If he does not play an extended period of time, the Colts could potentially miss the playoffs. With the AFC being so deep, wildcard spots tend to go to the East and North.
Only one team is going to make it to the playoffs from the AFC South, so whoever wins this has a huge boost to their playoff chances.
Titans’ Injury Report
RE Derrick Morgan (Knee)—Morgan tore his ACL last year in the fourth game of the regular season. He was the Titans’ first round draft selection and is targeting a Week 2 return.
LE Jason Jones (Knee)—Jones has been upgraded to probable for Week 1 and is expected to be a beast off the edge this season. His play would really help the team this week.
Jaguars’ Injury Report
TE Zach Miller (Knee)— Miller should be ready to go for the season opener. He is the No. 2 tight end behind Mercedes Lewis but is expected to contribute.
Fantasy Start Em
Chris Johnson. If you were lucky enough to draft CJ2K late in the first or early second rounds while he was holding out, make your opponents pay for their lack of faith. He signed his big deal and is going to produce big to earn it.
Fantasy Sit Em
Matt Hasselbeck. This guy hasn’t had any snaps with the full first-team offense and seemingly does not have a grip on Munchak’s system. Johnson is going to carry the load for the team offensively and Hasselbeck will be nothing more than an audience.
Fantasy Sleeper
Cecil Shorts III. The Jaguars have very little depth at WR and this rookie out of Mount Union could emerge as one of David Garrard’s top options this season.
What They’re Saying
Alfie Crow of Big Cat Country likes the Jaguars offensive line against the Titans’ defenders. He believes that we are going to see a lot of Maurice Jones-Drew this game, but Garrard is going to have his time to throw when needed.
Jim Wyatt at The Tennessean talked to Chris Johnson and it seems that he is ready for the season to begin. He told Wyatt, “I took the playbook home Friday, and I pretty much know the whole thing. The offense really is not too different. There are a couple of different wrinkles in it, but I pretty much know the whole thing.” Good sign for Titans’ fans.
Titans’ Player to Watch
Akeem Ayers. This kid is going to be the Titans starting strong-side linebacker and they got extremely lucky he fell to them in the second-round. He has great athleticism and should be a fixture on this defense for years to come.
Jaguars’ Player to Watch
Maurice Jones-Drew. MJD missed the last two games of last season after the torn meniscus he played with all year finally overwhelmed him. He had surgery on it this offseason and should be as healthy as ever. Look for him to have a huge game and season.
Key Matchup
Jaguars Passing Game vs Titans Secondary. David Garrard is a veteran QB who can play very well and very poorly depending on the occasion. He lost Mike Sims-Walker, one of his top targets last season, and will be working with a bunch of unproven receivers. Can they step up against a solid Titans’ secondary?
On the Hot Seat
Matt Hasselbeck and David Garrard. Both of these teams drafted quarterbacks in the first round of this year’s draft. The Titans took Jake Locker and the Jags went with Blaine Gabbert. If either of the starters begins to falter during the season, look for them to be replaced by a rook sooner than later.
Prediction
Titans over Jaguars, 20-14.
