Reports: Peyton Manning Out Indefinitely With 2nd Surgery
Reports are that Indianapolis Colts’ Peyton Manning is out, possibly for the year, are swirling. Add in 18to88.com’s observation on some interesting tweets by Jim Irsay and this story is picking up steam.
John Michael Vincent from ESPN 1070 has taken to twitter to report the news. The important thing to remember right now is that it still is just a report and nothing is definite. Here’s the tweet:
"Been told by multi sources that QB P Manning needs a 2nd neck procedure. Will remain out indefinitely.Called #colts and waiting on response.

It’s so difficult to see Manning actually being out after being the iron man that he’s been. I hope he can make the full recovery and not miss any games, but stranger things have happened.
Stay tuned and keep checking back into FG for more updates. They’ll be on here as soon as we know more.
UPDATE: 10:38 EST
Indianapolis Colts President Bill Polian has stated that he has no knowledge of Peyton Manning needing a 2nd surgery.
While the story has stopped gaining steam and maybe taken a step backwards, I think there is probably a 50/50 chance the reports are true. It also could just be that it’s the likely scenario, but they don’t want to announce it until they are sure he needs it.
Keep checking back in. Details will be posted as soon as I learn of them.
Update: 11:00 EST
ESPN is reporting that Peyton Manning is simply being reevaluated by several doctors due to the slow progress of his return from injury. The report by John Clayton goes on to say that no second procedure is scheduled at this point in time.
It looks like Manning’s need of a second surgery is lessening, but his chances of missing the first game are certainly going up. I would avoid Manning in drafts that have yet to be done.
Stay tuned.
