Do You Know Who We Are? We Are the Ohio State Buckeyes!

Taveus HawkinsSep 4, 2011

Studio Analyst, Mark May of ESPN draws the ire of the Buckeye nation on a constant basis.  He does his job.  He does it well.  His relentless attacks on Buckeye football make us watch each telecast with a teeth grinding belligerence.

That is just what ESPN wants.  "Keep 'em watching Mark!  Get them 'Bucknuts'  all fired up!"

You'd better know Mark May is vital to the ratings of ESPN programming.  Only he can say enough to have us ready to hurl our chosen beverage into the 50" flat screen.

Relax!  Don't take him too serious.  Remember! He has a job to do.  Everything is alright in Buckeye Nation.

Most of us were saddened by the departure of our beloved Coach Tressel.  We knew it wouldn't be easy without some of our key players over the first five weeks of the season.  However, did we really forget who we are?  We're the Ohio State Buckeyes.

Sure, we're young and inexperienced in some areas, but our cupboard is never bare.  We have what we need.  Good coaching, good players and the pride of wearing the scarlet and gray onto the field of battle.  With all of that working for you, who could possibly be against you?

Let the Mark Mays of this world howl and moan.  We're a talented program that is a perennial power.  We, THE OHIO STATE UNIVERSITY are always a part of the conversation.  You cannot talk about college football without talking about us.

Hate us if you like...but you still have to recognize our impact on college football.

Without Mike Adams, Dan Herron, Solomon Thomas, Jonathan Newsome, Devier Posey and Terrelle Pryor, we are still a great football team.  That's right...not good...GREAT!

I am so excited about this year's squad.  I think we're going to be pleasantly surprised.  The young defense made mistakes but still pitched a shutout.  They'll only get better.

The receivers were magnificent.  I wasn't so sure we weren't watching Paul Warfield, Chris Carter and Joey Galloway at times.  These kids are good...really good.  I think we're finally going to see the real deal with Jake Stoneburner, and I'm totally giddy about Verlon Reed.  He's a difference maker.  He's a player.  Do you believe that Evan Spencer catch?  Unbelievable!   Especially seeing how his dad couldn't catch a cold (just kidding Tim).

Carlos Hyde, Rod Smith, Jamaal Berry and Jordan Hall are more than capable backs.  This may be the best depth at running back in some time.

Joe Bauserman impressed me.  Joe Bauserman surprised me.  I'm happy for him.  The "old man" (25 years old) did a great job running the offense.  Braxton Miller looked good as well.  What a great situation to have.  I don't look at it as a negative.  We have two very capable QB's.

We're a team.  America, don't you forget it.  We're THE OHIO STATE BUCKEYES!

I know it's early, but the "swagger" is back in Buckeye football.  We've been through a lot over the last few months, but that's what it is all about.  We go through a lot to reach our goal.  Nothing will keep the Buckeye Nation down!

"Nothing less than the BCS"!  That's where we always belong!  Yes, we're spoiled.  NOTHING LESS THAN THE BCS!

Do you know who we are?  We're the Ohio State Buckeyes!
