Fantasy Impact - Those of you that have paid attention to my thoughts on Maurice Jones-Drew know I believe he’s unlikely to hold up for the season. At this time, the next running back on the depth chart is second-year back Deji Karim, who’s had a respectable preseason. Look to Karim as a must-have off the waiver wire in deep leagues.

The Bears have decided to cut ties with Chester Taylor after one season.

Fantasy Impact - In reality, Taylor was likely done with the Bears when the team signed Marion Barber when the lockout ended. Taylor was a disappointment last year, and the Bears will now go with Matt Forte and Barber as the main options on the ground.

It seems like a yearly tradition that the Patriots make an unexpected release or trade on the first weekend of September and this time it’s two-time Pro Bowl safety Brandon Meriweather.

Fantasy Impact - Meriweather will go to another team but his off the field issues were the likely reason why this impact player is gone from New England. We will have to wait and see where Meriweather lands before we know the IDP impact.
