Carson Palmer, Tiki Barber and the 5 Worst Picks in 2011 Fantasy Football
Some fantasy football fans like to try the big risk/big reward method of drafting. This year, those guys look like they will be losing out in their respective leagues.
Carson Palmer and Tiki Barber are prime examples of players that were going to be looked to as latter-round studs that could propel some fantasy teams to glory.
Right now, neither has a role for any franchise while you are scratching your head, wondering why you thought it was actually a good idea to waste a draft pick on either of them.
Here are a few more guys like those two.
Terrell Owens
1 of 6For those of you that actually believed Terrell Owens could play football come September, you are shaking your heads at the fact that you picked him up in those fantasy drafts that go down early in the preseason.
Owens' torn ACL may make him ineffective until midseason, but in reality, he won't be 100 percent again until the start of next season. At the start of next season, he'll likely be closer to retirement rather than looking to compete in another NFL season.
If you've got TO, now might be a good time to send him to the waiver wire.
Ryan Torain
2 of 6Ryan Torain may have entered the season as a sleeper, being that he figured to be the feature back in Washington for the Redskins, but now he is worthless in most fantasy leagues.
The emergence of Tim Hightower as the starter and Roy Helu as his complement makes Torain a waste of a draft pick because his whole value was based on him getting lots of touches.
Randy Moss
3 of 6Moss hung around long enough to be drafted in some leagues, while in some of my own leagues, people have been picking him up as recently as last week.
In my mind, Moss is retired. He's not coming back. Even if he does, did he really do anything last season that would make you think that he would be a worthwhile fantasy investment?
Nate Robinson
4 of 6Well, he did say he wanted to play football during the lockout...
Tiki Barber
5 of 6Tiki Barber's return to the NFL didn't exactly go so well. In fact it didn't go at all.
Barber was probably picked up by some fantasy owners early in training camp in the hope that he could return as a starter somewhere. However, that didn't happen, and unless CFL stats count, he won't be doing anything for fantasy teams this year.
Carson Palmer
6 of 6Palmer is fairly set with his decision to retire, while we all know Mike Brown is stubborn enough to let him rot rather than trade him.
There is bound to be some folks that figured he would get traded or come back and be a worthwhile investment as a starting fantasy quarterback based on his past with AJ Green. However, I doubt those people still even have him on the roster and have probably resorted to picking up Andy Dalton or someone else at this stage.
