UFC on Versus 6 Fight Card: Early Betting Lines and Predictions

Tim McTiernanSep 2, 2011

On October 1, the UFC makes it's way to the capital of the US, Washington DC!

This will also be the sixth UFC card featured on Versus, and the UFC pulled out all the stops for this one. There will be a title fight on free TV for the first time in more than four years, as Dominick Cruz attempts to defend his bantamweight strap against Demetrious Johnson.

Also on the card is the tallest heavyweight, Stefan Struve, against the shortest heavyweight, Pat Barry. That one is going to be a great fight.

The other two main card fights are a welterweight bout between Anthony Johnson against Charlie Brenneman, and a rematch between Matt Wiman and Mac Danzig.

Read on to check out the early predictions and betting line.

Lightweight Bout: Matt Wiman vs. Mac Danzig

1 of 5

The first main card fight features Matt Wiman and Mac Danzig in a rematch of their UFC 115 bout that ended in controversy.

In the first fight, Wiman got Danzig in a tight guillotine choke, and referee Yves Lavigne thought that Danzig had gone to sleep, so he pulled Wiman off and stopped the fight. Unfortunately, Danzig was still very much conscious.

There was supposed to be an immediate rematch, but that never materialized, so now, a little more than a year later, it will happen.

I think Matt Wiman finishes what he started in the first fight. He won't finish Danzig, but he'll still win.

Prediction: Matt Wiman by unanimous decision

Welterweight Bout: Anthony Johnson vs. Charlie Brenneman

2 of 5

The second fight on the main event has Ashton Kutcher taking on Charlie Brenneman. Oh wait, that isn't Ashton, it's just Anthony Johnson.

Anthony Johnson is known as a striker, but in his last fight, he was able to outwrestle Dan Hardy en route to a unanimous decision victory.

Charlie Brenneman is coming into the fight off the biggest win of his career, when he upset Rick Story on short notice at UFC Live 4.

This is a fight to remain relevant and move up the ladder in the welterweight division, and I think this will be too much too soon for Charlie Brenneman.

Prediction: Anthony Johnson by KO

Heavyweight Bout: Pat Barry vs. Stefan Struve

3 of 5

This is going to be a fantastic fight.

Pat Barry will be taking on Stefan Struve in a heavyweight matchup that was made for the fans.

Stefan Struve comes into this fight off a devastating knockout loss to Travis Browne that saw his spine and head bend in a way that it should not have.

Pat Barry comes in after an even more devastating knockout loss to Cheick Kongo, where he was probably a few punches from having the fight stopped in his favor, but then Kongo came back and knocked him out.

This fight will be a back and forth war...unless Struve starts out slow like he's known to. In that case, Pat Barry will have a quick and good night.

Prediction: Pat Barry by KO

Bantamweight Title Fight: Dominick Cruz (c) vs. Demetrious Johnson

4 of 5

The main event of the evening is a bantamweight title fight between Dominick Cruz and Demetrious Johnson.

Cruz is on an eight-fight winning streak since dropping down to bantamweight and avenged the only loss of his career in his last fight when he defeated Urijah Faber by unanimous decision.

Demetrious Johnson comes into the fight on a four-fight winning streak, including two recent victories over Miguel Torres and Kid Yamamoto.

Nobody is giving Johnson much of a chance against Cruz, including the oddsmakers, and this article will be no different.

Prediction: Dominick Cruz by unanimous decision

Dominick Cruz: -410

Demetrious Johnson: +310
