Tim Tebow: 4 Reasons to Avoid Trading for Tebow
Coming into the 2010 NFL draft, former University of Florida QB Tim Tebow was a hot prospect.
The Denver Broncos eventually took him in the first round with the 25th overall selection in the draft.
After a rookie year where he played in nine games, he has become a hot topic for recent trade talks in the NFL after losing the starting QB job to Kyle Orton this offseason.
Here are four reasons why teams should not trade for Tebow right now.
Tim Tebow Is Still Very Unproven in the NFL
1 of 4Tebow is about as green as they come as far as NFL quarterbacks are concerned.
He has played in only nine games and started just three in his one season in the league.
This doesn't mean that he can't improve over time, but he has his work cut out for him before he will be a proven commodity in this league.
Tim Tebow Has Had Issues with His Accuracy at Times
2 of 4Tim Tebow has had accuracy issues since his playing days began at the University of Florida in 2006.
The former two-time national champion even had to change his delivery last season because of accuracy problems.
This is a major issue that teams who are interested in Tebow really need to look into right now.
Tim Tebow's Style of Play Makes Him an Injury Risk
3 of 4Everyone knows about Tebow's running ability as a quarterback.
He was an elite running QB in college and even picked up 227 yards on the ground in his inaugural NFL season in 2010.
This can be a major concern because he puts himself in harm's way more often than traditional pocket passers tend to be.
He's a Michael Vick-type QB with the ball in his hands, meaning he can turn into an aggressive running back at any time in the game—which make's him a big injury risk for any team that wants to trade for his services.
Tim Tebow Can't Even Beat out Brady Quinn
4 of 4That's right.
I'm talking about the same Brady Quinn who was picked in the first round of the '07 NFL draft by the Browns, only to be dumped by the team just two years later.
If Tebow can't beat out the underachieving Quinn, you have to wonder why teams would take a chance on him at all.
