Why CM Punk Isn't Doing Anything Special: Just Being Completely Honest

Everyday we all lie.  We all pretend to be someone we're not.

Perhaps it's pretending to be meek and quiet at work so we don't upset our boss.

Maybe it's lying to the person you're going out with about your interests so you won't be alone.

It could even be lying to yourself about what you want.

Almost everybody lies in some manner.

And I don't mean every once in a while.  Everybody does that and nobody is exempt from it.

I mean most people lie everyday.

It makes things easier.

You don't really hate your job, you just dislike it.

Well technically you don't like the same shows as her, but you don't hate them.

Sure you never got to do what you loved for a job, but you make a decent paycheck.

And then there are people like CM Punk.  The kind who live a straight-edge lifestyle and doesn't waver.  The kind who works nonstop to achieve his dream. It took him around seven years to make it into the WWE and after making it to the top of the mountain, he was ready to leave.  When most of us would have happily stayed, he was packing his bags and about to set sail.

This, all because he believed the WWE was no longer the place it should be and wasn't going to settle.  He could have done just that, though.  He had a decent paycheck and the rare comfort of a girlfriend on the road.

But it would have meant giving up on his convictions.

Instead he refused to lie about things that are important to him and he didn't let himself compromise.

Think about it.  We all have a dream job, but after a hard day of work we usually just go home and turn on the TV or boot up our computer.  If we somehow did work our tail off and get to our dream job, how many would quit?  Maybe it might become a nightmare but we would feel comfortable and the paycheck would help ease our minds.

And that is what makes CM Punk so different, he doesn't settle.

He doesn't compromise. That lack of compromise has led him to becoming one of the most well-known figures in social media today and the most important wrestler in the WWE right now.

In other words he is who we all wish we could be.  The guy who didn't take any shortcuts.  The person who didn't shrug his shoulders and just stay complacent.

The guy who was willing to take any shot he was given and push until he broke through or broke down trying.

A few months ago CM Punk's lack of compromise paid off.  After seven years.

14 years in total.

What we got to see was the culmination of someone just being true to themselves instead of giving up and settling.

It's what we all could be.

It's not that Punk is special.  It's that most of us choose to be mundane.
