TNA Impact! Wrestling LIVE Results and Thoughts

Daniel PeragineSep 1, 2011

TNA brings its weekly Impact! Wrestling show to Huntsville, Alabama tonight.  Follow here for live play by play results of tonight's historic episode as Impact! hits the road.

We open the show from Huntsville, Alabama with Hulk Hogan coming to the ring.  Hogan announces that The Network will allow Ric Flair to face Sting on Thursday, September 15th.  If Flair beats Sting, he will be forced to retire.  If Sting wins, he will face Hulk Hogan one on one.  Hogan says the only way he will get Hogan in the ring is when he is ready.  Kurt Angle suddenly appears and enters the ring.

Hogan tells Angle to cut the cancer out of TNA, which he is referring to Sting.  Angle says he would love to take out Sting.  Angle tells Sting that if he wins his re-match, he is the champion.  If Angle wins, he will not walk out on his own.  Joker Sting appears and heads to the ring.

Hogan tells Sting nobody wants him out here.  Sting feels Angle likes him very much and says he's all in for the match tonight.  Sting says it begins by taking Angle's belt, beating Flair and taking on Hulk Hogan.  It is his plan and will stick with it.

As Sting was about to leave, Hogan tells Sting he calls the shots in TNA.  Hulk announces he will be the special enforcer and tells the crew backstage to play his music.  (Commercial)

We return with Matt Morgan joining the broadcast team.  We get a video recap of the top three contenders in the Bound For Glory series.

Gunner versus Rob Van Dam (Bound For Glory Series Match)

Your winner, Gunner.  Good opening match to begin the show.  Jerry Lynn interfered by costing RVD the match once again, this time pushing him off the ropes to allow Gunner to win.

Match Rating: 3.5/5 (Commercial)

Impact! Wrestling returns with Eric Bischoff and Traci Brooks in the ring with the rest of the Knockouts roster.  Bischoff talks about highly of the Knockouts and thanks them for making TNA special. However, Bischoff begins to discuss about how women are and switches his praise talk to negative. Bischoff tells Brooks to move aside and introduces the next VP of the Knockouts division, Karren Jarrett.  Jarrett takes care of business and announces ODB and Jackie are now full time in TNA. Jarrett tells Brooks she will be her executive assistant.  She warns the whole division to not get in her way before leaving the ring.  (Commercial)

Austin Aries and Kid Kash versus Jesse Sorensen and Brian Kendrick

Your winners, Sorensen and Kendrick.  A very good X-Division tag team match.  Lots of high flying action in the ring and the crowd was very into it.  Plenty of things to be excited about in the X-Division.

Match Rating: 4/5 (Commercial)

Backstage, Angelina Love and Winter talk about their coming match and having red wine.  Mickie James talks about Winter.  (Commercial)

Back from break, we see a touching video package of Jeff Hardy's return.  Kurt Angle is speaking about Sting and Hulk Hogan interrupts.  Hogan is shocked Hardy is returning to TNA and wants to wipe out The Network in New York for good.

Mickie James versus Winter (Knockouts Championship)

Your winner and new Knockouts champion, Mickie James.  Not a bad match.  Winter's run as champion was short and putting the title back on James, in my view, was a good decision.

Match Rating: 3/5 (Commercial)

Matt Morgan comes out to the ring and calls out Samoa Joe.  Joe comes out and begins to brawl with Morgan.  Joe hits Morgan with devastating chair shots to possibly further his injury.  (Commercial)

Back from break at a gym, Robbie E is with Rob Terry and Eric Young about the Television Championship match.  Christopher Daniels and AJ Styles and backstage.  (Commercial)

Christopher Daniels versus AJ Styles

Your winner, Christopher Daniels.  Solid match throughout and entertaining.  Styles botched move cost him a chance to win.  After the match, Daniels refuses Styles' handshake.  Could he be on a heel run soon?

Match Rating: 4/5 (Commercial)

Sting versus Kurt Angle (TNA Heavyweight Championship)

Your winner and still TNA champion, Kurt Angle.  Good main event this week.  After the match, Sting took out Angle and faced Hogan one on one.  However, Immortal attacks Sting.  Mr. Anderson arrives and takes down Immortal as the show concludes.

Match Rating: 3.5/5

Overall Impact! Wrestling Rating: 3.5/5 (Grade: B+)

Peragine's Thoughts:

This was a very good episode of Impact! Wrestling.  First and foremost, having the show in an arena in Huntsville, Alabama provided a different and much better experience watching the show.  No longer was it a tiring feeling of seeing the Impact! Zone week after week.  It made the show much more exciting with around 3,000-4,000 fans into it and makes TNA look major league.

Secondly, the matches were entertaining and we got to see good action this week. I enjoyed watching the matches.

Lastly, the atmosphere, in my view, made the show much better.  TNA could really benefit from this three month experiment of taking Impact! Wrestling on the road.  Looking forward to next week's show air from Huntsville, Alabama.
