US Open Tennis 2011: Caroline Wozniacki and Tennis' Most Colorful Characters

Neri SteinMay 31, 2018

Tennis is full of colorful characters, and it always has been.

No one may ever be as off the wall as John McEnroe , but there's plenty of exciting tennis players at the 2011 US Open, from the top with world No. 1's Caroline Wozniacki and Novak Djokovic and plenty more.

Let's take a look at the tennis players at this year's US Open who have the most fun.

Serena (and Venus) Williams

1 of 8

The least colorful thing about Serena and Venus Williams is the outfits they design themselves for each major. They're often a little too out there, but they at least always provide a talking point.

Unfortunately, there's no more entertainment from Venus in this US Open after she was forced to withdraw to do illness, but you can bet Serena will pick up the slack.

She was always the more energetic and wilder one anyway.

Serena is particularly good at making you laugh during the interview portion.

Andy Roddick

2 of 8

Andy Roddick likes to have a lot of fun on the court in front of the fans and also behind the scenes with the media.

He's been around for a long time, so he's just trying to find any way to spice things up every now and then.

Even when he's just been dealt his most devastating loss, he still finds a way to crack a joke.

If he could just focus all his comedic energy onto his tennis, maybe, just maybe, he come close to being the tennis player he was expected to be.

Caroline Wozniacki

Caroline Wozniacki has been atop the women's tennis game for quite some time, but she's still yet to win her first Grand Slam.

But we love her just the same simply because, how could you hate her?

She's a good tennis player who's still just getting it together, but until she does, she's great in the press room, from both sides.

Novak Djokovic

The colorful side of Novak Djokovic is a rather recent development. In fact, before last year, he was known as somewhat of a jerk on the tour and wasn't incredibly well liked by the media or his fellow players.

That's all changed now.

The new Djoker likes to have fun, he likes to dress up and crack jokes, and it's clear he doesn't take himself too seriously anymore.

Oh what winning can do for one's psyche.

Tommy Hass

Tommy Haas will try anything to beat Roger Federer

Considering not many have, it was worth a shot.

Maria Sharapova

6 of 8

Maria Sharapova is one of the most likable players on tour, and she always has been.

Off the court, she's very charming, and she's been in some great commercials.

Just make sure you mute your TV during her matches.

Rafa Nadal

7 of 8

There is just so much to love about Rafa Nadal, and that's not even including his tennis.

First off, if you're wondering which player will stand out most in the 2011 US Open, it's Rafa because he always stands out in his bright, neon-colored outfits.

It's not hard to make the guy laugh, even though you'd be hard pressed to find a tougher competitor out there.

He rarely doesn't have an ear-to-ear smile, and he is easily one of the more entertaining players in the game today.

Roger Federer

8 of 8

Roger Federer is one of the best tennis players of all time, and he's never failed to entertain both during and after a match or even during practice

Fed is as serious about his tennis as they come, but he doesn't let the game get in the way of him having a good time.

And he never has a better time than when he's with his fiercest rival, Rafa Nadal.
