US Open Tennis 2011: ESPN and Tennis Channel TV Schedule for Day 5

Gabe ZaldivarJun 6, 2018

The 2011 US Open has already given us so much drama, I feel almost guilty asking for more. That is what we are doing on a Day 5 that looks certain to continue bringing the hits.

We have already seen one Williams sister bow out of the Open because of health issues in Venus. Serena looks well on her way to the deeper rounds as she is healthy and fit for the first time in years.

Andy Roddick struggled, but prevailed. Another star lost out altogether in Gael Monfils. And of course, Roger Federer was splendid once again.

So what does Friday hold at Flushing Meadows? Well, much more of the same.

Andy Roddick will be tested once again. He battles fellow American, Jack Sock. After his previous match which almost saw A-Rod dismissed, Roddick was curt with reporters. We will see if he is in better moods, and better form on Friday.

Rafael Nadal looked polished, if only a little too patient in his match with Andrey Golubev. He will need to make quick work of Nicolas Mahut if he is going to keep his legs going forward.

For the women, I will have my eye on Maria Sharapova as she takes on Flavia Pennetta. She made mince meat of Anastasiya Yakimova. McHale may have little chance against a surging Sharapova. She is keen on proving that she can regain past glory.

The interesting match of the day may be Nadia Petrova vs. Samantha Stosur. Both players will battle in what looks to be the most tightly-contested match of the day.

As you can see, Day 5 is turning into another must-see event. The US Open is creating a habit of forcing these types of things onto the TV. Here are the details to find all of the fantastic tennis coverage.

Here's the Day 5 schedule. All times Eastern.
