Philadelphia Eagles: Top 5 Winning Moments
Maybe it’s something in the water.
It’s no secret that Philadelphia Eagles fans can be downright crazy. From Franklin Field to Veteran’s Stadium to Lincoln Financial Field, Philly fans have become nothing short of infamous for their incessant drunken mischief and debauchery. Do the Eagles fans deserve their notorious reputation?
Here are five winning moments in Philadelphia Eagles’ history that would make Charlie Sheen proud.
5. We're Positive That We'll Hate You, Donovan.
1 of 5With the second pick of the 1999 NFL draft, the Philadelphia Eagles selected Syracuse QB Donovan McNabb. Immediately, those present who were dressed in green roared in outrage. Fans expected to hear RB Ricky Williams name called out, and they did not hesitate to let the world know exactly how upset they were. Fortunately, it worked out for the best. Ricky Williams ended up wanting another type of green and McNabb became one of the best players in Eagle’s history.
Still, booing your potential team leader took a lot of guts. Whether you consider it rude or ungrateful, it still shows that the fans are incredibly passionate about their team.

4. Good Riddance!
2 of 5Terrell Owens helped lead the Eagles to a Superbowl appearance where he had 9 receptions for 122 yards. He did so against his doctor’s orders with a severely injured ankle. With a tough performance like this, you’d think that Terrell Owens would be enshrined in Eagles history.
He wasn’t. Instead Owens sat out most of the next season due to a number of disputes with the organization and his teammates. At the end of the season, Owens had already made plans to jump ship for the division rival Dallas Cowboys.
Owens’ first game back in Philadelphia was nothing short of chaos. Fans burned hundreds of his Eagles’ jersey in the parking lot before the game, many burned inside of a coffin. They also brought signs and developed “TO? OD!” cheers to attack Owens for a recent mysterious drug overdose.
Was the fan-developed attack an over the top assault on Owens’ character and personal life? Sure. Was it almost admirable to pay back Owens for the misery he caused the franchise? Absolutely.

3. Law and Order, Philly Style.
3 of 5Everyone knows that drunk and rowdy fans at any ballpark or stadium in the country can cause some trouble. In 1997, the Philadelphia Eagles were decimated at the hands of the San Francisco 49ers on Monday Night Football. Needless to say, the fans were not pleased.
Booze-induced brawls and general depravity got a big response from the city of Philadelphia’s government. The Monday night incident led to the placement of a court-ordered judge at the stadium to handle any further incidents.
When you need a judge on site to handle wild fans, you know things have spiraled a bit out of control.

2. Buddy the Bounty Hunter
4 of 5In 1989, Eagles’ coach Buddy Ryan supposedly ordered a hit on the Dallas Cowboy’s kicker and QB Troy Aikman. The next time the two squared off, the Eagles fans rallied in unhinged support for their unhinged coach.
In a now infamous game, Eagles fans threw chunks of ice and snow at the Cowboys throughout the game. Pounding America’s Team with anything they could find, many Eagles fans were arrested and thrown out the game. The incident even resulted in a 2-game suspension of the sale of alcoholic beverages at Veteran’s Stadium.

1. Eagles Fans Are Angry...at Santa Claus?
5 of 5About a week before Christmas in the 1968 NFL season, Philadelphia Eagles fans were taking a breather from their 2-11 record to enjoy a halftime show at their home Franklin Field.
Enter Saint Nick. As halftime dragged on, a float carrying Santa and his fiberglass reindeer emerged as, “Here Comes Santa Claus” played over the speakers. Philadelphia fans reacted the best way they knew how- by screaming and booing Santa with everything they had. The show ended, and Eagles fans went down in history as the only fans deranged enough to berate Father Christmas.
Let’s hope Saint Nick doesn’t put the Eagles on the naughty list again.
