Chiefs vs. Packers: 4 Chiefs That Need to Step Up

Bill RobbinsJun 7, 2018

The Kansas City Chiefs play in their preseason finale tomorrow night against the Green Bay Packers.

They will be looking for their first win of the exhibition period, after three tough losses in the past three weeks.

Many Chiefs need to elevate their games if the want to make the final 53-man roster or even keep their starting spot with the team.

Here are four players that need to step it up on Thursday night.

WR Keary Colbert

1 of 4

KC signed veteran Keary Colbert during training camp in hopes that he still had some something left in the tank after being out of the NFL for two years.

Instead, the journeyman wide receiver has done little to nothing in the preseason for the Chiefs this year.

With a crowded group of receivers already on the team, Colbert could easily be the odd man out if he doesn't impress this week against the Packers.

RB Jackie Battle

2 of 4

The veteran running back has been disappointing so far this preseason.

He's fumbled the ball a few times and is averaging less than four yards per carry on the ground.

The former University of Houston star appears to be at the end of his time with the Chiefs.

He needs to play well tomorrow night if he wants this to change.

RT Barry Richardson

3 of 4

Former sixth-round pick Barry Richardson had one of his worst games as a Chief last week against the St. Louis Rams.

He was repeatedly hammered by the Rams defensive line, making the right tackle position a question mark once again heading into the 2011 regular season.

Richardson likely has his spot already secured on the team, but that doesn't mean that KC won't bring someone in to challenge the former Clemson star.

He is a key part of this line going forward and he needs to shake off last week's performance and improve quickly or he might lost his starting spot to someone else.

LT David Mims

4 of 4

Massive offensive tackle David Mims appeared to have a lot of promise when the Chiefs brought him in as a UDFA earlier this offseason.

However, he is as raw as they come, and hasn't had a good preseason so far.

Mims might be able to sneak his way on to the practice squad, but he has to have a good showing tomorrow for there to even be a chance of that happening.
