Liverpool Transfer Rumors: Craig Bellamy to Undergo Liverpool Medical?

With Liverpool agreeing the terms for a move for striker David N'gog to Bolton Wanderers, Liverpool are short a backup striker.

The Reds have been linked with a move for the Manchester City striker Craig Bellamy, who is way down the pecking order at the Etihad stadium behind Eden Dzeko, Sergio Aguero, Carlos Tevez and Mario Balotelli.

Bellamy, a self-confessed Liverpool fan, would still have been at Anfield had it not been for the golf-stick incident with John Arne Riise and the eventual falling out with the then-manager Rafael Benitez.

He performed decently in the only season he spent at Anfield, scoring nine goals in 41 appearances for the club.

According to Goal.com, he has been given permission to leave the Wales training camp to undergo a medical preceding a move.

Though the reports still say that there is a gap in understanding between the two clubs with respect to the way the deal would be structured, it is believed that the deal could either be a free transfer or a season-long loan move.

Bellamy has only one year remaining on his contract at Manchester City and it is understood that he does not want to lower the wage he is earning, which is £90,000 a week, which might turn out to be a stumbling block.

Whether Liverpool wants to pay that salary or not still remains to be seen.

Though even Stoke City and Queens Park Rangers are said to be interested in the Welsh striker, which club is able to strike a deal with Manchester City would be known closer to the transfer deadline.
