WWE News: An Explanation for Changing CM Punk's Night of Champions Opponent
On the last Raw, it was confirmed that CM Punk would, as expected, face Kevin Nash at WWE's next PPV, Night of Champions. However, by the end of the show, fans were informed that the match had been cancelled and CM Punk would now be facing the COO of the company, Triple H.
Storyline-wise, we were told on SmackDown that it was because Triple H felt he had to defend his own honor after countless insults from CM Punk. The reality is a little more dull, as we could all probably tell Nash wasn't going to get in the ring to compete again.

Most Likely Backlash Heel/Face Turns 🎭
According to PWInsider (b/w Wrestlescoop), the decision was made in the week building up to the latest episode of Raw, that Nash was not healthy enough to compete for the company. It is likely something came up during his medical tests that made it a risk to place him in a return match.
Nash, on the other hand, will be sticking around for the duration of the story and will still get involved from time to time. It is also not impossible for him to have a match further down the line providing it meets WWE's criteria for what they consider safe.
The decision to change the match was made on Monday, which is why fans in attendance of Raw did not learn of the announcement at the event. The original plan had CM Punk coming out victorious against Nash.
I have to say that it's not surprising that WWE has decided that Nash isn't fit enough to wrestle a match, let alone take a slot on PPV. Out of the last two articles I've dedicated to Nash vs. Punk, several comments made a big joke about how fragile Nash is these days.
Does this also show that some wrestling companies are not being responsible with their bookings if Nash isn't cleared to compete? After all, he was scheduled to have a series of matches for independent shows in Canada.
How long has Nash not been healthy to perform? Had TNA been making him compete when they shouldn't have?
Either way, I think we can mostly agree that Punk vs. Triple H is going to be a better match than the one with Nash could have ever hoped to be.
