NFL Roster Cuts 2011: 10 Recently Released Players Who Will Quickly Find a Home

Bryn SwartzJun 7, 2018

Within the last few days, teams in the National Football League have cut their players down from 90 to 80. Final roster cuts are still to come, meaning that hundreds of additional players in the NFL have yet to be released.

Yet, even though teams have barely cut a fourth of the 37 players that they will eventually cut, some quality names have already been released.

The following 10 slides will highlight the best cuts in the league—the players who will quickly find a new home in the NFL for the 2011 season. I have listed the player's name, position, and the team that he was just cut by.

Na'il Diggs, Linebacker, St. Louis Rams

1 of 10

Diggs is entering his 12th season in the league, assuming that he can find a home.

He played six years for the Green Bay Packers, four for the Carolina Panthers, and one for the St. Louis Rams, who released him a couple of days ago.

The 33-year-old linebacker has 496 career tackles and 30 pass deflections.

Andre Gurode, Center, Dallas Cowboys

2 of 10

Gurode, 33, is one of the best centers in the NFL and was released because he and the Dallas Cowboys could not come to a contract agreement. He also had surgery on his right knee in June and missed the first two weeks of training camp.

He has been a Cowboy since the team drafted him in 2002 and has earned five consecutive Pro Bowl selections.

He is visiting the Seattle Seahawks this week and should be with a new team in a matter of days.

Alex Brown, Defensive End, New Orleans Saints

3 of 10

Alex Brown spent eight seasons with the Chicago Bears and a year with the New Orleans Saints before he was recently released.

The 32-year-old defensive end has played in 16 games for each of the last eight seasons, and averages a consistent five to six sacks per season.

He could be a solid DE for any team's rotation.

Richard Quinn, Tight End, Denver Broncos

4 of 10

Quinn was originally drafted by Josh McDaniels in the second round, but both he and McDaniels are no longer with the team.

In two seasons, Quinn has just one catch for eight seasons, but he's 25 years old and with the right coaching he could become a productive tight end in the NFL.

LenDale White, Running Back, Denver Broncos

5 of 10

White was a second-round pick by the Titans in 2006 and had his best season in 2008, when he rushed for 15 touchdowns.

He missed the entire 2010 season with a torn ACL and was cut by the Broncos two weeks ago. The 26-year-old running back is in the peak of his career and should be signed to a new contract soon.

Jerome Felton, Fullback, Detroit Lions

6 of 10

Felton was drafted in the fifth round by the Detroit Lions in 2008 and started at fullback for three seasons.

He isn't much of a threat as a runner or a receiver, but he has solid blocking skills. He should be signed to a new team soon.

Jon Stinchcomb, Offensive Tackle, New Orleans Saints

7 of 10

Stinchcomb didn't become a full-time starter until he was 27 years old, but he has made 80 consecutive starts over the past five seasons.

He was selected to the Pro Bowl in 2009 and is just 32 years old. He could probably play for three or four more seasons in the NFL.

Kevin Dockery, Cornerback, Pittsburgh Steelers

8 of 10

Dockery has never been a starter in the National Football League. But he has played in the league since the 2006 season. He earned a ring with the 2007 Giants and spent the 2010 season with the St. Louis Rams.

He was recently released by the Steelers but the 27-year-old cornerback has five years of experience that should get him a team soon.

David Binn, Long Snapper, San Diego Chargers

9 of 10

Binn, the last remaining member from the Chargers' 1994 Super Bowl team, was cut by the team this month.

He is 38 years old and suffered an ACL injury that caused him to miss almost all of the 2010 season. But he's also a veteran long snapper who has been to a Pro Bowl and understands the position well enough to continue playing in the league.

Ashton Youboty, Cornerback, Tampa Bay Buccaneers

10 of 10

Youboty was a third-round draft pick by the Buffalo Bills in 2006. He played in 43 games in his career, including 24 in the past two seasons. The Bills cut him after the season and he signed with the Buccaneers, who cut him several days ago.

He has five years of experience and is just 27 years old.
