Brandon Marshall Won't Face Discipline for Offseason Stabbing Incident

Thomas GaliciaJun 1, 2018

NFL commissioner Roger Goddell has taken heat at times for some of the suspensions handed out, even those that many think overstep his boundaries.

So of course there are some who would think that Miami Dolphins wide receiver Brandon Marshall would face some discipline for a domestic incident he had with his wife over the offseason which led to him allegedly being stabbed in the stomach

However Dolphins fans (and fantasy owners who have either drafted or are considering drafting Brandon Marshall) fear not. According to Ben Volin of the Palm Beach Post, Marshall will not be subject to discipline.

Volin stated on his twitter feed that he spoke to NFL spokesman Greg Aiello, who said that because no charges were filed, Marshall will not face a fine or suspension.

This is great news for the Dolphins, who this preseason have seen Marshall develop a rapport with quarterback Chad Henne, which is an important step in the right direction for both Henne's development as well as any playoff chances the Dolphins might have.

Had Marshall missed any game time, it would've greatly affected the Dolphins' offense. Their preseason game against Atlanta, which Marshall dressed for but did not play in, was Henne's worst performance of the preseason, as he went 4-for-8 for 77 yards, one touchdown, and two interceptions.

In Henne's two games without Marshall, Henne has gone 25-for-37 for 369 yards and a touchdown with no interceptions. Marshall has accounted for seven of those receptions for 136 yards and a touchdown, plus he drew two pass interference penalties that lead to the Dolphins gaining 41 yards against the Buccaneers on Saturday.

However it should be noted that Marshall has run into problems during his career before, and likely will be on very thin ice from now on.

But since his admission that he was diagnosed with borderline personality disorder earlier this season, hopefully Marshall continues with his treatment and is able to stay out of trouble, so that he may continue his NFL career and live a healthy life.
