2011 NFL Predictions: 5 Big Names That Won't Make Final Rosters

Bradlee RossJun 7, 2018

Each NFL preseason, we watch to see who will make the final cut.

And each year there are big-name guys who are either past their prime or not worth the risk and get cut, surprising most fans.

This year will be no different. There will be some guys who, just a few years ago, no one would have ever imagined being cut.

Here are five big-name guys who could very easily get cut this season.

Tim Tebow

1 of 5

I don't need to tell you much about this guy.

He's become one of the most controversial figures in sports, and he's done nothing to contribute to that but try to play professional football.

And now he may be cut.

If the Broncos elect to go with Kyle Orton as the permanent starter, they'll want to move on from the controversy that has surrounded the quarterback battle.

If they can't find a good enough taker for Tebow trade-wise, they may be forced to cut him.

Albert Haynesworth

2 of 5

Wondering why I didn't put a picture of Haynesworth as a Patriot on this slide?

It's because we have yet to see him as one.

Haynesworth hasn't played at all in the preseason, which can't be a good sign for the troubled defensive tackle.

He was once the best defensive playmaker in the game, but it's looking more and more like those days are done.

Getting cut by the Patriots might not be far off for him.

Chad Henne

3 of 5

After Chad Pennington went down a few years ago with what would become a career-crippling injury, Henne was the great hope for the future of the Dolphins organization.

Fast-forward a few years, and he's a huge disappointment.

It's no secret the Dolphins were trying to get Kyle Orton through a trade with the Broncos.

They may not get him, but if they can get someone else, you can expect Henne to be gone.

Tashard Choice

4 of 5

With the drafting of DeMarco Murray by the Cowboys and his recent success, Choice may find himself on the outside looking in when it comes to playing time.

He probably won't go anywhere, especially since the Cowboys let Marion Barber go.

But it stands to reason they could trade or cut him, especially if the younger Murray pans out.

Three running backs is generally too many to play, but the Cowboys may keep him for injury insurance.

Steve Slaton

5 of 5

It might be a stretch to say this is a big-name guy. He was big in college and played well in his first few seasons, but he's been superseded by Arian Foster (who appears to be going nowhere but up).

Slaton has had trouble being consistent at the pro level and won't last long.
