UFC: Top 10 UFC Fighters to Follow on Twitter
The UFC decided to embrace Twitter earlier this year and since then, you can see numerous fighters tweeting.
From Michael Bisping to Jason "Mayhem" Miller, you can pretty much assume everybody is tweeting. Even Anderson Silva has a Twitter account.
With that being said, you may wonder who the best fighters to follow on Twitter are. If you're reading this, you can probably guess some names on this list, but can you guess all of them?
Here are the top 10 UFC fighters to follow on Twitter.
10. Matt Mitrione
1 of 10Twitter Account: @mattmitrione
Matt Mitrione is a really funny guy. He went from the head case on The Ultimate Fighter to a solid and respectable heavyweight, pushing his way up the division ladder.
With tweets like, "Sweet mother of all that's holy how bad do I want a sausage McGRIDDLE right now. Go to hell @TheDolceDiet 4 making me eat oat bran. #whining," you know you've found the right man to follow.
Funny tweets make the world go round! And I could definitely go for a sausage McGriddle right now.
9. Forrest Griffin
2 of 10Twitter account: @ForrestGriffin
Forrest Griffin was one of the first people I followed when I got onto Twitter. His self-deprecating humor is just way too funny to be ignored.
Forrest has proven himself as the all-around funny man in every interview and can pretty much be funny every other word.
My personal favorite Forrest Griffin tweet: "When I was younger I sat in my room in the dark and burned myself with a lighter while I listed to NIN. Ah the good old days."
8. Duane Ludwig
3 of 10Twitter account: @DUANEBANGCOM
Duane Ludwig might not be the most recognizable name on this list, but if you like fan interaction, he is the man to follow.
Ludwig interacts with all of his fans, which for a fighter, is pretty awesome considering how much they spend their days training and doing other things in their busy lives.
Ludwig also has been pushing his Facebook petition for the UFC to recognize his four-second knockout, which if you're a fan of MMA, you know it was four seconds and would help give Ludwig the credit he deserves.
7. Dan Hardy
4 of 10Twitter account: @danhardymma
Dan Hardy may run a few hours ahead of you, but he still does leave time to tweet with fans and even mixes in the funny tweet every now and then.
He may not be a top welterweight anymore, but he is definitely one of the top tweeting fighters.
Hardy also makes you think a little: "Do you think Daniel Radcliffe's nightmare is the Harry Potter theme park in Florida? Can you imagine a whole theme park of you? Scary..."
6. Kenny Florian
5 of 10Twitter account: @kennyflorian
Kenny Florian may be the best Ben Stiller look-alike out there, but he is one of the top featherweights in the world when it comes to fighting.
KenFlo does it all from announcing, to getting in the ring and even being an analyst for MMA Live on ESPN sometimes.
Whether it is his #KenFloConfessions or his tweets with Kurt Pellegrino, Florian is super funny.
If this list wasn't so stacked he would be No. 1.
5. Tito Ortiz
6 of 10Twitter account: @titoortiz
Out of all the fighters on this list, Tito Ortiz is probably the most well known and most respected.
The former UFC light heavyweight champion really goes out of his way to interact with fans. If you know about Tito's life, then you know how amazing it is that he fits it into his busy schedule.
Outside of fan interaction, Tito tweets some pretty inspirational quotes. After all, Tito knows what it takes to get that drive in the morning.
4. Chad Mendes
7 of 10Twitter account: @chadmendes
Chad Mendes is one of the brightest stars in the lighter weight divisions. In my opinion, he is the No. 2 ranked featherweight and for good reason with his 11-0 record.
Even leading up to his UFC 133 fight with Rani Yahya, Mendes took a lot of time out to interact with fans on Twitter and even held a video chat with them.
Mendes is also in the running to be the new face for Edge Shave Gel, and Mendes is trying to rack in as many votes as possible. I'm still waiting for the day that #GiveChadTheEdge becomes one of the top tweeted terms.
3. Miguel Torres
8 of 10Twitter account: @migueltorresmma
Miguel Torres used to be one of the most awesome fighters in the lighter weight classes.
It really shouldn't be a surprise that he is on this list and even this high. Torres produces some awesomely hilarious tweets and even sometimes produces some inspiring quotes.
I mean, hey, where else are you going to read a tweet like this:
"Guys, you're not a player if your mom still pays your car insurance."
I wonder if that includes 20-year-old writers who still go to school. Hopefully not.
2. Jason "Mayhem" Miller
9 of 10Twitter account: @mayhemmiller
I'm sure everybody reading this was waiting and knew Mayhem would be somewhere on this list.
Outside of the cage, Mayhem is one of the funniest and brightest personalities in the sport. On Twitter it is pretty evident that nobody can hang with the pound-for-pound funniest man in MMA.
Just to be in the spirit of tonight's Ultimate Fighter 14 premiere:
"Drinking game for tonight's #TUF14 premiere. Shot for every time I say "Wow" and @danawhite says "F---" and @bisping is understandable"
Oh yeah, it is all about #teammayhem tonight.
1. Chael Sonnen
10 of 10Twitter account: @sonnench
Chael Sonnen is definitely the greatest trash talker to ever walk the face of the planet. This was a tough decision between Mayhem and Sonnen, but I think Chael all but wraps this up with a pretty Christmas bow and all.
Sonnen has no boundaries, doesn't care who you are and will not hesitate to criticize you.
Ask anybody with the last name Silva or Mirko Cro Cop. They'll tell you. Sonnen has gone after everybody from Catmandoo to Timbuktu and all points in between (Thank you, Cotton McKnight, for that one).
No one is safe. Nobody.
"Bisping, you make good points about deserving a title shot. After all you did beat, umm, well ahh...Hum and then there was..Ah..Wait, what!?"
