WWE Monday Night Raw 8/29/11: The Super 6 Moments of the Night

Tom Urtz Jr.Jun 7, 2018

Monday Night Raw didn't fail to impress again tonight.

Some recent issues were addressed and we have some new ones to consider.

What did you think of the show? What did you think were some of the high and low points of the night?

This edition of Raw was billed as a super show. Accordingly, this slideshow will recap and analyze six of the top moments from Monday Night Raw in Tulsa.

1) Triple H, Kevin Nash and CM Punk Open the Show

1 of 7

Triple H kicked off the show giving a speech that was very corporate in nature. He announced the creation of a Raw "super show" that would include the superstars of SmackDown and Raw each and every week.

He also addressed the issues of Textgate, Kevin Nash, CM Punk and John Lauranitis. Additionally, he called out Kevin Nash and demanded to know why he was lied to.

At that moment, CM Punk's music hit and he didn't look happy.

Punk sarcastically clapped and applauded the COO and then praised him for his Oscar-winning acting abilities.

Then Nash came out, sporting the old NWO theme music. He told Triple H he indeed lied about being in a car crash.

He said he needed to "take care of business," so he took Triple H out of the picture. Nash then laid out the facts for Triple H.

Next, he challenged Triple H's manhood and things got serious. He explained that he didn't like that Nash had lied to him and he couldn't trust him anymore.

He said to Nash, "LEAVE AND DON'T COME BACK!"

He then revealed that he was signed to a WWE contract, so he had a right to be in the building; if he was fired he would leave with loads of guaranteed money.

So Punk now claims that the Kliq is back. Coincidentally, that is the same noise Kevin Nash's knees make when he walks.

Nash then demanded that Triple H book a match between him and CM Punk for "Night of Champions."

Punk followed this up by shooting some insults Triple H's way that Bleacher Report would reprimand me for writing, so if you missed it—sorry.

Triple H ended the segment with a classic DX: SUCK IT!

2) CM Punk vs. Miz Featuring Kevin Nash and R-Truth

2 of 7

This match was pretty amazing. It featured the cocky and Michael Cole fan boy, The Miz and CM Punk. During the match, CM Punk openly mocked Miz and it was awesome.

CM Punk continued to show why he is a great worker and the match was easily the best of the night. Punk continued to show his dominance verbally and worked a great match with Miz.

CM Punk appeared to be outmatched by The Miz at times, but the overall flow of the match was decent. There were some good counters and exchanges of blows and it appeared that a pin fall could come at any mere moment.

The Miz and CM Punk put on a good match and WWE utilized both well. These are two superstars that could have a lengthy title feud in the future.

The top moment, hands down, during this match was when CM Punk went flying and dropped the elbow. The moment was then ruined by R-Truth, but CM Punk gained the upper hand. Then Kevin Nash came into the ring.

Nash, R-Truth and The Miz beat down CM Punk. It was all capped off with a jack-knife power bomb.

This current feud is really shaping up for "Night of Champions."

3) Randy Orton vs. Dolph Ziggler

3 of 7

It was good to see Randy Orton back on Raw. Hopefully now that he is back for the near future he can get interjected in some nice feuds.

Nonetheless, his match with Ziggler had some good spots.

It featured some good back-and-forth momentum, some interference from Vickie and some overall good television.

At one point it appeared Randy Orton would be counted out, but the match contented and Ziggler and Orton continued to trade blows.

Orton had a good string of moves that led to a near fall and then went for his infamous punt, but was met with sweet chin music by Ziggler.

Orton, however, regained control and hit an amazing RKO of a military press drop.

Overall, the match was a very entertaining one from start to finish.

4) Sin Cara vs. Jack Swagger

4 of 7

Sin Cara was in action on Monday Night Raw vs. Jack Swagger. The match started rocky, with a botched hurricanranna, but slowly they got things going.

Soon after that, Dolph Ziggler distracted Swagger and Sin Cara hit a springboard tornado DDT, a springboard sexton and a modified lionsault for the win.

Overall the match was short, but Sin Cara had only one slip up. I am very excited for the match he and Alberto Del Rio will have tomorrow night.

5) John Cena's Promo and Main Event

5 of 7

John Cena is known for his promos—some bad, some good—but tonight's was an alright one.

He addressed the crowd in usual fashion and played off the crowd and the mixed emotions he was receiving. He then got to the reason why he came out to the ring.

He said that Alberto Del Rio had no class—along with some other key phrases that were censored by WWE programming.

The World's Strongest Man, Mark Henry, then came out to the ring and challenged John Cena to a match. He said that Cena would joint the Hall of Pain by the end of the night.

Christian then cut a promo that reminded me of the feud they had back in 2005.

Nonetheless, before any fisticuffs were thrown, Sheamus joined Cena in the ring and Triple H booked a match between the foursome later in the night.

My analysis and thoughts on the Main Event will be filled in at the show's completion.

6) Jerry Lawler's Commentary and the WWE Tag Team Championship Match

6 of 7

The newly christened tag team of Air Boom, courtesy of the WWE Universe, came out of the gates fighting. Kofi Kingston displayed his aerial arsenal and dominated most of the match.

Kingston hit "Trouble In Paradise," and the titles were defended successfully. After the match, there was a confrontation between David Otunga and Jerry "The King" Lawler.

I personally don't hope this turns into a feud because it would just be an utter failure.

Overall it is good to see that the tag-team division is slowly but surely starting to mean something again.

The best parts of the match were Jerry Lawler's commentaries; he spoke the truth throughout the match.
