Eagles vs. Jets: TV Schedule, Live Streaming, Radio, Game Time and More

Eric BowmanAug 29, 2011

The Philadelphia Eagles have been labeled a "dream team", but their preseason performances have been far from spectacular. They will be put to the ultimate test against Rex Ryan and the tough New York Jets defense.

The Jets will host this "dream team" and just four days after they play the Giants. The Eagles need to perform well to get some extra confidence heading into the 2011 regular season.

It's unclear how much the starters will play, but they will get some solid reps, so be sure to watch early. New York might take the easy route towards Philadelphia can give the starters extra rest.

Eagles' Key Addition

Without a doubt the Eagles biggest offseason addition is Nnamdi Asomugha. Philadelphia was very active this offseason, but landing the best corner on the market, and arguably the best in the league will pay off greatly for the Eagles defense. Other key pickups were Vince Young, Jason Babin and Cullen Jenkins.

Jets' Key Addition

Adding a big target at wide receiver is just what Mark Sanchez needed. The Jets picked up Plaxico Burress, and even though he hasn't played in two years, he still has talent left and it will help New York. Other key additions were keeping Santonio Holmes and Antonio Cromartie.

Eagles' Biggest Loss

The Eagles have to adjust to losing their leading tackler from 2010. No, it wasn't a linebacker, it was safety Quintin Mikell, who is now with the St. Louis Rams. The Eagles did boost their defense in other areas, but the loss of Mikell hurts big time.

Jets' Biggest Loss

Losing Shaun Ellis is a much bigger loss than the departure of Braylon Edwards. The Jets defensive front will really miss the 6'5", 290-pound end, and they will know rely more than they would like on first-round draft choice Muhammad Wilkerson.

What They're Saying

Eagles No. 2 receiver Jeremy Maclin has been plagued with an illness all offseason, and he told the Philadelphia Daily News, "I feel all right conditioning wise, it's just with being out there running routes, I haven't done that in a while, so there's definitely some work I need to do...I think I'll get back to my normal self pretty soon."

The Eagles need him to be in top form for the regular season or else this offense will suffer.

In New York, their focus right now is on the Giants, but Jets writer Rich Cimini of ESPN writes that the two games in four days won't be much of a problem.

"Essentially, the Jets will be a split squad over those four days. The starters and key reserves will play two-plus quarters against the Giants and, given Rex Ryan's track record, they'll all be wearing baseball caps against Philly."

Eagles Player to Watch

It's all about how well Michael Vick performs. He won't be playing against that many Jets' starters, which means he needs to take advantage of it and shine big. A sub-par performance will have many folks worried heading into the season.

Jets Player to Watch

First-round draft choice Muhammad Wilkerson will continue to get work as he prepares for a lengthy regular season.

The 6'4", 315-pound defensive end will be counted on a lot by the Jets, and if he can man handle the Eagles offensive line then Ryan and his staff will be feeling pretty good.

Key Storyline

Will this Eagles "dream team" finally dominate in a preseason game like many believed they would? Or will they flop once again?

The Jets won't be playing their starters much if at all, therefore one would think the Eagles would destroy the Jets. It's easy to see that all eyes are on the Eagles and how well their new additions will fare in the final preseason game.

Prediction

 Eagles win 27-17
