UFC 91 Is Over! What Now? A Must Read! LOL

Sean SchimlingNov 16, 2008

As all of you already know, Brock Lesnar is now the UFC Heavyweight Champion. If you happened to be stuck under a rock: BROCK LESNAR TKO'D RANDY COUTURE TO BECOME UFC HEAVYWEIGHT CHAMPION.

That leaves me to wonder, what happens now?

Randy Couture just signed a three-fight deal, does he fight the loser of Mir/Nogueria? Does he fight Gabriel Gonzaga again? What does Dana do with him? Does he retire?

There are also some questions about Brock. Will he be able to compete with the caliber of opponents he's about to get? Will he pass the post-fight drug test? (J/K...Kinda) What does this do to the Heavyweight division?

Kenny Florian also made quick work of a "top" contender in Joe Stevenson. So why does he fight Sherk again? I personally think he deserves a shot at the LW title. Sherk did impress me against Tyson Griffin, but Ken-Flo has taken on countless opponents since his last title fight. He has beat all of them!

Demian Maia also impressed me last night by submitting Nate Quarry in the first round. He is two fights away from a title shot in my book. Maybe his next opponent is someone like Thales Leites?

Gabriel Gonzaga looked ready for another shot last night, with his TKO of Josh Hendricks. He also beat Justin McCully at UFC 86 in impressive fashion. I see him getting a title shot pretty soon if he keeps this up. I previously stated that I wouldn't be mad at a Couture/Gonzaga 2, anyone else?

Dana White probably creamed in his pants after Brock shocked the MMA world and became the HW champion. Now Brock's PPV drawing power increased, and now Brock can boast he is not all hype. Although I am some what on the Lesnar bandwagon, I am not a firm believer in him. He did put on a good show against Randy,he didn't do anything unexpected.

We all knew he is very powerful, and if he caught Randy he could drop him. One thing he seemed to improve was his patience. Unlike the Frank Mir fight he was patient and careful not to get caught in a submission. He did gas at the end of the first, but recovered nicely in the second. I don't see Brock beating his next opponent no matter who it is.

Antonio Rodrigo Nogueria is a different kind of fighter; he is quick and powerful, not to mention a beast on the ground, and should the fight go to the ground, Brock would be all but done for.

Frank Mir, who already beat Brock once, can do it again. He knows what Brock can do, and knows how to submit him. Although Brock would have a better chance against Frank, I don't see him winning against him.

But for the moment Brock looks great, he TKO'd a UFC Hall of Famer, and (at the time) the UFC Heavyweight champion. So like I said before in my last article: Hats off to Brock. But he shouldn't bask in the glory too long, he has a long road ahead of him.

Congrats to: Kenny Florian, Demian Maia, Brock Lesnar, Gabriel Gonzaga, Mike Brown
