WWE WrestleMania 28: Stone Cold vs. CM Punk? Please, No!
Stone Cold Steve Austin and CM Punk: Two greats in this business, one grand stage—WrestleMania.
Sorry, I do not want to see it happen.
Ask anybody online about this "fantasy booking," and they will tell you all about how amazing this match would be, laying out a four-month storyline leading up to a clash in Miami.

Modern-Day Dream Matches 💭

Most Likely Backlash Heel/Face Turns 🎭
Excuse me, but if I had the choice, I (for one) do not care to see this match. There are a few reasons why.
1. CM Punk Is Now a Face
This may not seem like a big deal, but it is. With Punk playing a heel character, it made a ton of sense actually. Even the latest WWE video game made a video package over these two feuding!
Straight Edge vs. Beer Drinker.
Anti-authority of the late 1990s vs. Anti-authority of the late 2000s. Again—it makes perfect sense, right?
Well, not anymore. Punk is slowly getting accepted as a face, and there is no way Austin will turn heel, so while a face/face match can work, it won't here. It just couldn't.
2. Stone Cold Is Retired
Yes, he is done. I love how suddenly everyone forgets this. It is the same thing with booking Edge and/or HBK in some big match.
Sorry to disappoint, but when somebody says they are done, I believe them. Yes, I have been fooled before, but I believe Austin is just messing with the fans here.
He is teasing a match with Punk because that is what fans want to hear. Thus, he is going to fuel the speculation—like he does every time rumors pop up.
Punk may be an ideal opponent for him, and the match may rock the house, but I really do not see Austin returning NOW after nine years (WM 2003-WM 2012).
If Austin was ever going to return, he would have done it by now!
3. Austin Went Out the Perfect Way
If you are Stone Cold, why return? To have a great match with Punk? Um—okay. Great?
He put over The Rock and made him look like a million bucks in the middle of the ring in one of WrestleMania's main events. Many others have not had a more fitting ending to their careers.
Again, yes, a Punk match would be great to see, but if I had the choice, I would leave Austin's career alone. I would not touch it one bit.
I am not going to mess with anything moving forward, whether Steve's health is 100 percent right now or not.
4. The Rock Is Wrestling at WrestleMania 28
Last but not least, Rock is already headlining the show. How ironic.
This may sound hurtful, but Stone Cold is not needed for this show.
He's just not.
Rock will already lift WWE over 1,000,000 buys, Taker will be back to get 20-0, Sin Cara vs. Rey is a near deadlock to happen, etc., etc.
It's not like WWE would be shuffling around to find a big match to make WrestleMania special or anything last minute. WWE has the big matches under control for 2012.
Sorry. Punk can be inserted on any spot on the WrestleMania card, but against Stone Cold is not one of them—at least if I had it my way.
