Marco Andretti and Tony Kanaan Confirm Rides for 2012
Marco Andretti confirmed he will be in the No. 26 Honda for his family's team Andretti Autosport for his seventh Izod IndyCar Series season in 2012.
Marco will have RC Cola be his main sponsor with Venom Energy Drink on the car for select races.
It was also announced that Marco, dad Michael, and grandfather Mario will be the new spokesmen for Go Daddy in the Izod IndyCar Series. They're going to do commercials on three generations of Andretti's in IndyCar racing.
Go Daddy will also stay on for two years as a primary sponsor for a team in the Andretti Autosport stable. By that happening and Marco having full sponsorship for next season, that means Andretti will still field four cars. The hottest rumor going around is that Dan Wheldon will rejoin Andretti Autosport and drive the Go Daddy Honda.
Wheldon won the 2005 Indianapolis 500 and Series Championship in 2005 as well for Andretti.
It was also announced that KV Racing has resigned Tony Kanaan through next season as well. The team also announced that they will race Chevrolet engines.
That means the green Lotus sponsored cars will no longer be green. It also means Japanese driver Takuma Sato will not be backed by Honda for the first time in seven years. Before Sato joined the Izod IndyCar Series, he was a Formula One driver for BAR Honda.
Andretti Autosport also confirmed they would be racing Chevrolet's as well.
KV and Andretti joins Team Penske and Panther Racing as the teams confirmed running Chevrolet engines in 2012.
Ganassi, Foyt, Schmidt and Sarah Fisher Racing have confirmed to be racing Honda engines.
No teams have announced to be running the third engine supplier Lotus engines yet.
