More News and Notes on Christian Cage Leaving TNA

Joe Burgett Nov 16, 2008

It hasn't happen yet, however we all know Christian Cage is more than likely out of the TNA and into the WWE once again. The WWE is so confident they will get him, they are thinking about holding off his long time storyline brother Edge's return.

Growing up in Canada, Edge and Cage were best friends. From friendship to debuting in the WWE together, they are multi-time tag champs and they had everything going for them.

The one problem was that Cage was not getting as much success in the WWE as Edge, so he went to a place that would give him the success he wanted: TNA. Cage became a World Champion there; meanwhile, Edge became World Champion in the WWE.

Even though Cage did win two World titles in TNA, it still didn't match what Edge did in the WWE. Cage doubters still believe if Cage were to go back in the WWE, he'd just be another mid-card again.

To those people, you are totally wrong. Cage did well and became a household name within the WWE, but he rose to wrestling prominence in TNA.

If you recall, the WWE was pushing Cage to singles competition, even putting him in singles matches against Edge. They even went as far to put him into ladder matches against Edge.

I kind of relate Cage to Chancey Billups of the Denver Nuggets. He was a good player for a while, didn’t ever show a lot to people, and got put in different places in the NBA.

He went to the Nuggets, and all the sudden he gets traded to the Detroit Pistons after bouncing around. He was still not respected then he finally won that coveted World Championship in the East.

At that time, the East was not a very good division compared to the West. But he still won against the West’s best. Years after Cage is in TNA, always at the main event level, he was still at the conference play-offs.

Billups then goes back to the Nuggets. At one time he rode the bench for them, now he is expected to help win their games. The point I am trying to make is Cage was a good wrestler.

He never showed much, until he arrived in TNA, such as Billups did in Detroit. He was in the East, but he was still successful. Now he goes to the West, as Cage could go to the WWE.

I think the same will happen: he will get more respect and the place that used to put him in the mid-card matches, will now put him in the main event level as they should.

He is rumored to be at TNA this week, contrary to the rumor he would not be at the TNA tapings. He has been in talks with the WWE. The WWE has not officially signed him considering his current contract in TNA is not over.

They have told him what they are willing to pay, and it looks promising. TNA has already taken him out of storylines, and if he stays they have a storyline to bring him back with.

So Cage is ready to go, and although his picture is still on the TNA website, don't expect it to be in a month. People now are also speculating that TNA will force Cage to sign a 90 day no compete clause.

As I am hearing, the signing of the clause will most likely happen. But he can still appear on WWE television, he can be at any show at anytime. Which will most likely be SmackDown since Edge is on there, I am also hearing.

He will not wrestle until the 90 day clause is up, but he can appear with Edge in December when he is scheduled to come back. That is if he signs with the WWE as he is believed to be doing.
