Little League World Series 2011 Video: Watch Miracle Finish in Finals
Huntington Beach's Nick Pratto just lived a moment that almost every kid, who has every picked up a baseball bat, has dreamed about. He got the walk-off hit with two outs in the 2011 Little League World Series. The hit drove home the winning run to give he and his teammates a 2-1 victory over Japan.
Pratto was engulfed by his teammates almost as soon as he touched first base. He and his teammates were delirious with joy as they celebrated being crowned 2011 Little League World Series champions. These are the kinds of memories that will stay vibrant in the minds of participants and viewers.
In an interview right after the game, Pratto was asked about his great LLWS run and what memory will stick out the most. He let it be quickly known that it was his last moment, and that clutch hit. Pratto said it felt good coming off the bat and he knew he had just ended the game.
For Pratto it was his third hit in a fantastic game, and an amazing tournament. Pratto also started two games on the mound and surrendered just one run. He was the winning pitcher for California as they defeated Montana to win the American championship.
He was certainly not the only hero. Braydon Salzmen pitched a complete game in the finals and shut the door on Japan after allowing a run in the third.
California's Hagen Danner then pulled this game even with a solo home run. For Danner, it was just another highlight in a dominant tournament. He hit over .500 for the tournament. He also started two games on the mound and did not surrender a run.
This was a well-played game, with few errors and many great plays. While Japan was clearly heartbroken with the sudden end to their championship hopes, they have nothing to hang their heads about.
They played well enough to win, but they came up just short. Congratulations Huntington Beach! I am sure these boys just earned some memories they will cherish forever.
