UFC on Fox: 5 UFC Fighters Worthy of Headlining the Historic Event
On November 12, the UFC will make history as they will be featured on network television for the first time in their 18-year history.
So far, details about the card have been sparse—there is only one announced fight and one other potential one.
Dana White has said that before he made any announcements about the main event, he wanted to get through the Saturday night's fights in Rio.
There are a few people that could headline the card and there are a few that are actually worthy of headlining one of the most important cards in UFC history.
Here are five fighters who are worthy to headline the event.
Brock Lesnar
1 of 6Brock Lesnar (5-2) is the least worthy fighter on this list, but he would certainly be a good choice.
Lesnar is one of the biggest names in MMA and would draw plenty of first time viewers to Fox on the eve of November 12.
This scenario is unlikely to pan out, as Dana has been quoted as saying that Lesnar will be back on the first of the year. Perhaps the New Year's card is up next for Brock.
Cain Velasquez
2 of 6Cain Velasquez (9-0) is the current UFC heavyweight champion.
Velasquez is one of the top fighters on the planet. Although he doesn't have the biggest name in the sport, anyone who tunes in on Fox would be in for a treat.
Velasquez is a big guy, but he has cardio that goes on forever, as well as great striking and wrestling. He is one of the most exciting fighters in the UFC and many people would become fans of the sport if they had a chance to see Velasquez fight.
Jon Jones
3 of 6Jon Jones (13-1) is the current UFC light heavyweight champion and the youngest champion in UFC history.
Jones may not have as big a name as the next two men on this list, but as one of the most exciting fighters in MMA, he would be a great candidate to headline the card.
Unfortunately the timing does not come close to working out, so this scenario is almost impossible.
Georges St-Pierre
4 of 6Georges St-Pierre (22-2) is the current UFC welterweight champion and is easily one of the most worthy fighters of headlining the event.
GSP is one of the most dominant fighters in the UFC and is a consensus top two pound-for-pound fighter in the world.
GSP would be a great headliner for such an important card, as he has already headlined the biggest card in UFC history, UFC 129. Why not add more history to his impressive resume?
Anderson Silva
5 of 6Middleweight Champion Anderson Silva (31-4) is the best pound-for-pound fighter on the planet.
Fourteen straight UFC victories, nine consecutive title defenses, unbeaten in the UFC and he has finished some of the best fighters around with ease.
Silva is the greatest fighter in MMA history and easily the most worthy fighter of headlining the UFC on Fox debut.
Let's hope that Dana was lying to us all and that Silva really will headline the UFC on Fox, because there is nobody who would be more impressive to put on the UFC's network TV debut.
