UFC 134 Results: 4 Fights Yushin Okami Can Take to Get Back on Track
Oh no, Yushin Okami lost. Who could have seen that coming?
In related news—the sky is blue.
Unfortunately, everybody saw it coming, and nobody gave Okami much of a chance.
Most prediction articles had him losing by second round KO, not a bad call eh?
Okami is going to need to get back on track if he ever wants to finish the trilogy with Silva, so here are four fights that he could take to get him back on the winning path.
Chael Sonnen/Brian Stann Loser
1 of 5This fight is set to go down at UFC 136, and the winner will most likely be granted the next crack at Anderson Silva's middleweight title.
The loser will be looking to get back on the road to a title shot, so who better to fight than the last man to challenge for it?
Chris Leben/Mark Munoz Winner
2 of 5This fight isn't for a No. 1 contender spot, but it is definitely for the right to call yourself a contender.
Chris Leben was on a three fight winning streak, with title aspirations, before they were cut short by Brian Stann. Now, after a win over Wanderlei Silva, Leben will be looking to re-establish himself as a contender.
Mark Munoz and Okami have met before, with Okami edging out a split decision. A rematch would definitely be a close and competitive fight.
Michael Bisping/Mayhem Miller Winner
3 of 5This fight probably makes more sense if Bisping wins, as nobody really sees Mayhem as much of a title threat. Either way, this would be a good fight.
Bisping seems to fall short against upper-tier competition, so a fight against Okami would allow everyone to see whether or not he is capable of being anything more than a gatekeeper.
A fight against Okami would be huge for Mayhem, and should he win, it would prove that he is one of the best fighters in the world.
Vitor Belfort
4 of 5Vitor Belfort would make an interesting matchup for Okami.
Belfort is primarily a striker, but also has a black belt in BJJ, which would test Okami's submission defense.
Belfort is also the only fighter without a scheduled fight, so this one may be in the cards.
