Arsenal Transfer Rumors: Chu-Young in London for Medical, Jeopardizes Hazard Bid
Arsenal has offered a transfer fee in the £10 million range for the Monaco captain. According to the BBC, Arsenal has tabled an offer for Monaco striker Park Chu-Young on Saturday. Various other reports from the likes of the Daily Mail, ESPN and the Metro confirm the rumors surfacing from France.
Arsene Wenger told reporters yesterday afternoon, “We are looking for one more striker because we know he [Bendtner] will leave.”
Defending Ligue 1 champions Lille looked keen to sign the South Korean, but Wenger seems to have swooped in at the last moment. The Lille boss Michel Seydoux, clearly bewildered by the sudden change of events stated Saturday the team’s assumption of the situation “from what we understands he could be at Arsenal.”
Seydoux adding, “Like Monaco, Lille are baffled…everything had been agreed.”
The stealth move by the North Londoners could see them land the 26-year-old specialist by the day’s end. However, the move could create a large wrinkle with any ongoing negotiations that might be taking place behind the scenes over the possible transfer of the Belgian dynamo Eden Hazard from Lille to Arsenal.
Either way, the Gunners seem poised to snatch up some last minute transfer window specials now that they have secured a spot in the Champions League group stage. Arsenal fans can find some solace in the fact that their boss could finally be bringing someone not still experiencing his teen years in the fold. Even if it's not one of the strikers they envisioned making a move to London.
