UFC 134: Royce Gracie Reveals No Negotiation Was Made to Fight

Mike HodgesJun 7, 2018

Royce Gracie is the one of the few Brazilians who won't be competing in the Octagon on Saturday night.

But Gracie revealed to TATAME.com that he is content with how things have gone with the event in Rio de Janeiro, and is excited to see how things unfold.

"It’s a snowball that is growing for years now," Gracie said regarding mixed martial arts in Brazil.

"Everybody wants to see who the best fighter is. But, to find that out, you must get into the ring and figure it out."

The legendary Brazilian Jiu Jitsu practitioner was in attendance for the UFC press conference in Brazil, and already has a firm belief that the growth of the sport has grown as much in Brazil, if not more, than in the United Sates.

He also cleared up the rumors which speculated his return to the UFC for one final appearance.

"We didn’t even start negotiating it," he said.

The response from Gracie seems pretty genuine, but he did not rule out one more fight in the future.

Gracie, among other Brazilian fighters, will most likely be on hand for the UFC's return to Brazil this weekend. The event marks the first time in 13 years the UFC will step back onto Brazilian soil, and it is expected to be a historical and memorable event.

When asked on his prediction for the main event between Anderson Silva and Yushin Okami, Gracie would let fate decide the outcome.

"Man, there’s only one way to know it. If I had this crystal ball I’d be betting," he said.
