UFC 134 Fight Card: 5 Fights That Will End in a Knockout
The UFC will be taking its talents to Rio De Janeiro, Brazil, in what has the potential to be one of the greatest fight cards in UFC history. UFC 134 consists of five main card fights, two prelims and five undercard fights.
Although the card has some fairly inexperienced fighters, it also has all the ingredients necessary to go down in the history books.
While we know UFC legends such as Anderson Silva and Mauricio "Shogun" Rua have knocked out many opponents in the past, what about the remaining fighters? One thing is for certain as we quickly approach UFC 134 in Brazil: There will be knockouts.
Let's take a look at five potential fights that could end in a knockout. Please, sit back and enjoy.
5. Ian Loveland vs. Yves Jabouin
1 of 5Ian Loveland and Yves Jabouin are both looking to make a statement at UFC 134 and get their names on the radar. What better way to do this than via an exciting knockout? Both fighters have great striking abilities and the potential to end this fight early.
When Loveland and Jabouin knockout their opponents, it's usually in the first or second round. As soon as the fighters touch gloves we will see Loveland test Jabouin's stand-up defense. As both fighters lack major experience, we'll see them going for the knockout blow early. This fight has the makings for an early knockout.
4. Stanislav Nedkov vs. Luiz Cane
2 of 5The Stanislav Nedkov and Luiz Cane fight has the potential to be very similar to that of Loveland vs. Jabouin. Rarely does Nedkov or Cane allow their bouts to go the distance, and they likely won't at UFC 134 either.
Cane will more than likely come out looking very comfortable with his UFC experience and look to challenge Nedkov early. When Nedkov settles down, this bout has potential to be Fight of the Night. If history repeats itself, these fighters will look to engage in a striking battle and knock each other out.
3. Edson Barboza vs. Ross Pearson
3 of 5The Edson Barboza and Ross Pearson fight at UFC 134 could possibly be the most exciting of the night. Barboza is on the fast track to make himself known as a legitimate lightweight contender. Pearson will more than likely look to take Barboza to the ground and attempt to submit him or take him to the judge's scorecards.
If Pearson wants to stay in this fight, he will have to show that he can defend Barboza's leg kicks. If he can't, the fans can expect to see a knockout, with Barboza more than likely being victorious.
2. Brendan Schaub vs. Antonio "Minotauro" Nogueira
4 of 5Brendan Schaub and Antonio "Minotauro" Nogueira may very well be the most exciting fight of UFC 134. Both Schaub and Nogueira have already stated they plan to knock each other out in an exciting bout. It will be interesting to see how these fighters approach one another when the gloves touch.
This will be Schaub's toughest opponent to date, so don't expect him to come out firing away. Schuab will look to get the timing of Nogueira's strikes down perfectly and then go in for the knockout. Nogueira, on the other hand, will attempt to take Schaub to the ground, where he has yet to be fully tested.
This fight has all the ingredients for the Fight of the Night.
1. Anderson Silva vs. Yushin Okami
5 of 5Anderson Silva and Yushin Okami will headline what could possibly be the best fight card of the entire year. Silva hardly ever disappoints when he enters the Octagon and don't expect UFC 134 to be any different.
If Okami wants to stand a chance in beating Silva, he will have to engage in the fight early—much like his training partner, Chael Sonnen, did at UFC 117.
If Okami challenges Silva we could see Silva struggle, but that is very unlikely. In reality Silva can end the fight in almost anyway he pleases. The Brazil crowd can expect to see their hero put on yet another impressive title fight.
At the end of the night ,Silva will walk out of UFC with a knockout victory and remain the middleweight champion.
