Re-Ranking the Top 25 College Football Teams After the Jordan Jefferson Arrest

Erik UnderwoodJun 7, 2018

Jordan Jefferson has had a warrant issued for his arrest today after the police searched his apartment and analyzed evidence that supported his role in a bar fight in Baton Rouge.

Jefferson is a likely candidate to miss some time for LSU, and may not be eligible to play all season depending on what occurs with the police investigation.

So where does that leave the Tigers in the grand scheme of things?  Without their projected starting quarterback, will they be weakened enough to fall from the top 10 in most people’s minds?

LSU should have a stellar defense that could carry them through until either Jarrett Lee or Zach Mettenberger are ready to take snaps and make the offense highly productive.

Does the strength of their defense warrant a top five spot? A top 10 spot? These are questions that really can’t be answered until the season begins next weekend.  LSU plays in the best conference in America and has an extremely difficult schedule ahead of them.

They will get their first tough test of the year against No. 3 Oregon in the season opener, likely without Jefferson, so it shouldn’t be long before we find out where the Tigers stand among other teams in the top 25.

The Jefferson arrest would likely move LSU down a few spots if you were to re-rank the top 25 today, but likely wouldn’t cause too much of a shuffle among the other members.  Here is a look at the new top 25, post-Jefferson arrest.
