WWE: Mark Henry Must Win World Heavyweight Championship
It is imperative Mark Henry defeats Randy Orton for the World Heavyweight Championship.
The “World’s Strongest Man” will do just that the day he gets his first one-on-one opportunity with “The Viper.”
WWE needs Henry to win the championship, much to the dismay of probably every single wrestling fan ever, to solidify everything they’ve worked for this summer. I’m actually shocked with the incredible job the WWE staff has done creating Henry into a legitimate threat and heel within their Universe.

Henry has been a perennial jobber throughout his career despite receiving push after push. He consistently failed to catch on in and out of the ring despite being handed opportunities.
We’re seeing you actually can catch lightning in a bottle because that’s what WWE has done with their recent Henry push. We all learned in the movie Little Giants, all it takes is one time. This is the one time for Henry and WWE needs to see it through to the very end.
Henry has been built perfectly this summer, which is why anything less than a championship victory over Orton wouldn’t just be disappointing, it would be insane.
Henry has been built as the No. 1 monster in the WWE Universe. He took out Big Show and Kane in the same week—surreal!
Just by stepping up to the plate, the generally hated Sheamus has become one of the top five biggest fan favorites on the SmackDown roster! Now that is star power! That is how you know you created a legitimate monster the fans despise.
WWE has used Henry throughout the summer as the main attraction for SmackDown. He has been all over the commercials hyping the following SmackDown. For the past two months, I can recall one, maybe two, commercials featuring Orton and Christian who were involved in a heated feud for the World Heavyweight Championship.
Orton has been burying potential stars left and right on SmackDown. Nobody even has had a real shot to take down “The Viper” until now.
Henry is the only man Orton could lose to and have it make sense at this point. It would be absurd for WWE to build Henry this much only to have Orton take him down.
What would be the point?
Orton isn’t going to benefit much in the eyes of the fans if he beats Henry. Sure, it would be another impressive feat for the former “Legend Killer,” but Henry would be an unstoppable force if he was able to take down the biggest star on the roster.
Perhaps even more impressive than WWE’s handling of the Henry character is his in-ring work. They’ve kept his matches short and sweet, which is all they need with a man of Henry’s caliber.
He is a monster and doesn’t need to engage in any type of straight-wrestling matches. He is an entertainer and he has done just that this summer.
I was actually excited for Henry’s pay-per-view matches for perhaps the first time in his lackluster career.
Even stranger than that—they were actually entertaining!
Yes, I said the unthinkable!
Two of Mark Henry’s matches were actually entertaining to watch. WWE booked his matches with Big Show and Sheamus as perfectly as they’ve booked his entire push.
It is rare when the WWE is on point lately, but they’ve been more successful on a consistent basis with Henry than anything else in recent years. At this point, WWE and Henry deserve to take this push to the moon and the only way to accomplish that is with a World Heavyweight Championship run.
WWE would be able to continue pushing Orton’s anger management character if he were to lose the championship to Henry.
Orton would have to take his demented mind to a new level to take down this destructive monster. SmackDown would be infinitely more fun to watch with Orton chasing the championship and attempting to maim Henry like he did Christian.
For the benefit of SmackDown, WWE needs Henry to become champion. He is the only legitimate threat on the roster to Orton and is the only legitimate monster in the WWE’s current universe. WWE can’t afford to squash Henry’s push to appease Orton after booking him so perfectly this entire summer.
After promoting him all summer, they clearly want him to become a full fledged Main Event superstar and the only way to make sure that happens is by defeating Orton for the World Heavyweight Championship.
