UFC 134: Power Ranking Every Fighter on the Fight Card

Tim McTiernanJun 2, 2018

On Saturday, August 27, the UFC makes it's long-awaited return to the birthplace of MMA, Brazil!

And on that Saturday night, there will be 12 fights that will all surely be outstanding, and will entertain the 30-40 million people who will be watching.

The main event of the evening has UFC Middleweight Champion Anderson Silva looking to defend his title against the last man to defeat him, Yushin Okami.

The co-main event has a light heavyweight battle between former champions Mauricio "Shogun" Rua and Ultimate Fighter 1 winner Forrest Griffin.

The rest of the main card has Antonio "Minotauro" Nogueira facing off against Ultimate Fighter 10 runner-up Brendan "The Hybrid" Schaub. Then a lightweight battle between Ross Pearson and Edson Barboza, and a light heavyweight matchup with Luiz Cane taking on Stanislav Nedkov.

In addition to those 10 warriors, there are 12 men who will be fighting on the undercard.

Here are the power rankings for all 24 fighters on the card for UFC 134.

24. Luis Ramos

1 of 25

Luis Ramos (19-6) is a welterweight who will be taking on Erick Silva on the preliminary portion of the card.

Ramos will be making his UFC debut, and comes in riding a three-fight win streak and having won six of his last seven.

In his career, he has won four fights via KO or TKO, four via submission and 11 via decision.

23. Felipe Arantes

2 of 25

Felipe Arantes (13-3 with 2 NDs) is a featherweight making his UFC debut and will be taking on Yuri Alcantara on the preliminary card.

Arantes' last fight ended in a no contest, but before that he was riding a seven-fight win streak.

Arantes has won six fights via KO or TKO, four fights by submission and three fights via decision.

22. Raphael Assuncao

3 of 25

Raphael Assuncao (14-4) is making his bantamweight debut, taking on Johnny Eduardo as part of the preliminary card.

Assuncao has gone 1-3 in his last four bouts, and could very well be fighting for his job at the event.

Assuncao has won two fights via KO or TKO, seven by submission and five by decision.

21. Thiago Tavares

4 of 25

Thiago Tavares (15-4-1) is a lightweight fighter who will be taking on Spencer Fisher on the Spike TV prelims, as part of the undercard.

Tavares has gone 1-1-1 in his last three, and is another fighter who could be fighting for his job come Saturday night.

Tavares has won one fight via TKO, 11 via submission and three by decision.

20. Yves Jabouin

5 of 25

Yves Jabouin (15-7) is making his bantamweight debut, as he takes on Ian Loveland on the undercard.

Jabouin has gone 1-3 in his last four fights, and could be fighting for his job on Saturday.

He needs to come out and get an emphatic win.

Jabouin has 11 wins by KO or TKO, one by submission and three by decision.

19. Dan Miller

6 of 25

Dan Miller (13-5 with 1 NC) is a middleweight fighter who will be taking on Rousimar Palhares on the Spike TV prelims.

Miller is 2-1 in his last three fights, most recently dropping a unanimous decision to Nate Marquardt at UFC 128.

In his career, Miller has won one fight via TKO, eight by submission and four by decision.

18. Ian Loveland

7 of 25

Ian Loveland (14-8) is a bantamweight fighter who will be taking on Yves Jabouin on the undercard.

Loveland is 2-1 in his last three, most recently dropping a unanimous decision to the consensus No. 2 bantamweight in the world, Joseph Benavidez.

Loveland has won six fights via KO or TKO, six via submission and two via decision.

17. Spencer Fisher

8 of 25

Spencer Fisher (24-7) is a lightweight fighter who will be taking on Thiago Tavares on the Spike TV prelims portion of the undercard.

Fisher is 1-3 in his last four fights: He lost to Joe Stevenson by submission, lost to Dennis Siver by submission, beat Curt Warburton and then lost a decision to Ross Pearson.

Fisher has won 10 fights via KO or TKO, nine via submission and five by decision.

16. David Mitchell

9 of 25

David Mitchell (11-1) is a welterweight fighter who is taking on Thiago Tavares on the undercard.

Mitchell suffered some disappointment in last fight, which was his UFC debut, when he lost the first fight of his career to TJ Waldburger by unanimous decision.

Prior to that, Mitchell had won nine fights by submission and two by decision.

15. Erick Silva

10 of 25

Erick Silva (12-1 with 1 NC) is a welterweight and a UFC newcomer who will be fighting Luis Ramos on the undercard.

Silva is riding a three-fight winning streak, and a nine-fight unbeaten streak. He is another fighter who has not lost since 2007.

Silva has won two fights by KO or TKO, seven by submission and three by decision.

14. Paulo Thiago

11 of 25

Paulo Thiago (13-3) is a welterweight fighter who will be taking on David Mitchell as part of the preliminary card that will be aired on Facebook.

He has gone 1-2 in his past three fights, with the past two fights having both been unanimous decision losses to Martin Kampmann and Diego Sanchez.

Thiago has fallen on hard times, but he could arguably be higher on this list; however, he needs an emphatic win Saturday night to prove he is still a top contender.

Thiago has won two fights via KO or TKO, eight by submission and six by decision.

13. Luiz Cane

12 of 25

Luiz Cane (11-3 with 1 NC) is a light heavyweight fighter who will be taking on Stanislav Nedkov as part of the main card, which will be televised on PPV.

Cane has gone 1-2 in his past three fights, earning a win over Eliot Marshall via first-round KO in his most recent fight, following a 10-month layoff.

Cane has won 10 fights via KO or TKO and one via submission (soccer kicks).

He's a scary guy to be standing across from in the Octagon.

12. Johnny Eduardo

13 of 25

Johnny Eduardo (25-8) is a bantamweight fighter making his UFC debut against Raphael Assuncao on the undercard.

Eduardo comes in riding an 11-fight win streak, with nine finishes and not having lost since 2007.

In his career, Eduardo has won six fights via KO or TKO, 13 via submission and six by decision.

I have a good feeling about Eduardo, and I think he could make a run at the belt.

11. Stanislav Nedkov

14 of 25

Stanislav Nedkov (11-0) is a light heavyweight fighter who will be taking on Luiz Cane on the main card.

Nedkov is making his UFC debut and is riding an 11-fight win streak, including victories over Kevin Randleman and Travis Wiuff.

Nedkov has won five fights by KO or TKO, four by submission and two by decision.

10. Rousimar Palhares

15 of 25

Rousimar Palhares (12-3) is a middleweight fighter and will be taking on Dan Miller as part of the preliminary card on Spike TV.

Palhares is 4-1 in his last five fights, with the lone loss being in the fight to Marquardt in which he did not defend himself at all times, ultimately costing him dearly.

Palhares has won one fight by TKO, nine by submission and two by decision.

9. Yuri Alcantara

16 of 25

Yuri Alcantara (24-3) is a UFC newcomer and is making his debut at featherweight when he takes on Felipe Arantes on the undercard.

I have high hopes for Alcantara, and he has an incredibly high ceiling. He has won 10 fights via KO or TKO, 12 by submission and only two by decision. This guy is a finisher.

His last fight was his WEC debut, at WEC 53, which he won via first round knockout.

He is currently riding an 11-fight win streak, with 10 finishes.

Oh yeah, and he has 16 first-round finishes, too.

Wow.

8. Ross Pearson

17 of 25

Ross Pearson (12-4) is a lightweight fighter who will be taking on Edson Barboza on the main card.

Pearson has gone 2-1 in his last three, with the loss sandwiched in between the two wins. The wins were unanimous decisions over Dennis Siver and Spencer Fisher, and the loss was a submission to Cole Miller.

In his career, Pearson has won two fights by KO or TKO, five by submission and five by decision.

7. Edson Barboza

18 of 25

Edson Barboza (8-0) is a lightweight in the UFC who will be taking on Ross Pearson on the main card.

Barboza is, obviously, riding an eight-fight winning streak, and in that time, he has six KOs or TKOs, one submission and one decision.

Additionally, two of his TKOs were due to leg kicks. Ouch.

At only 25 years of age, Barboza has all the tools to be a contender in the lightweight division, probably sometime soon.

6. Brendan Schaub

19 of 25

Brendan Schaub (8-1) is a heavyweight fighter who will be taking on Antonio Rodrigo "Minotauro" Nogueira on the main card.

Schaub is on a four-fight winning streak since losing The Ultimate Fighter 10 to Roy Nelson by KO. In that span, Schaub has knocked out three opponents and won a unanimous decision over Gabriel Gonzaga.

In his career, Schaub has won seven fights by KO or TKO and one by decision.

5. Forrest Griffin

20 of 25

Forrest Griffin (18-6) is a former UFC light heavyweight champion, and will be fighting Mauricio "Shogun" Rua in the co-main event of the evening.

Griffin comes into the fight on a two-fight winning streak, scoring decisions over former light heavyweight champion Tito Ortiz and former middleweight champion Rich Franklin.

In his career, Griffin has won three fights by KO or TKO, seven by submission and eight by decision.

4. Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira

21 of 25

Antonio Rodrigo "Minotauro" Nogueira (32-6-1 with 1 NC) is a heavyweight who will be facing off against Brendan Schaub on the main card.

Nogueira comes into this fight after an eighteen-month layoff, during which he got several surgeries and had to rehab after them.

Nogueira has gone 1-2 in his last three bouts, including suffering the first two knockout losses of his career.

Throughout Nogueira's career, he has won two fights by KO or TKO, 20 by submission and 10 by decision.

3. Yushin Okami

22 of 25

Yushin Okami (26-5) is a middleweight fighter and will be taking on Anderson Silva for the UFC Middleweight Championship in the main event of the evening.

Okami is currently on a three-fight winning streak, with decisions over Nate Marquardt and Mark Munoz and a TKO over Lucio Linhares.

In his career, Okami has won nine fights by KO or TKO, four by submission and 12 by decision.

2. Mauricio Rua

23 of 25

Mauricio "Shogun" Rua (19-5) is a former UFC light heavyweight champion who will be taking on another former champion in Forrest Griffin on the main card.

Shogun is coming off a title fight loss in his first defense, to Jon Jones. Overall in UFC, Shogun is 3-3, and is 1-2 in his last three fights.

Shogun has won 16 fights by KO or TKO, one by submission and two by decision.

1. Anderson Silva

24 of 25

Anderson Silva (30-4) is the current UFC Middleweight Champion, and he will be taking on the last man to defeat him, Yushin Okami, in the main event of the evening.

I don't think there'll be anyone who's surprised with me putting Silva as the top Brazilian fighter on the card.

Silva is on a 14-fight win streak—13 in the UFC—and has won 17 fights by KO or TKO, six by submission and seven by decision.

The man is an animal. Look for him to destroy Okami come Saturday night.
