US Open Tennis 2011 Bracket: Round by Round Guide
The 130th edition of the US Open is prepared to begin on Monday, August 29th and runs all the way until Sunday, September 11th.
The bracket has been set and the draw could get very intriguing by the time the quarterfinals come around. On the women's side of things, a rematch of the Wimbledon Final could occur as Petra Kvitova and Maria Sharapova appear to be on another crash course.
Venus Williams enters the tournament unseeded, while Serena Williams is the No. 28 seed. Venus has the tougher draw obviously, as she will have to face Sabine Lisicki in just the second round of the tournament.
On the men's side, Andy Roddick has fallen all the way down to the No. 21 seed, while Mardy Fish finds himself on a crash course with Roger Federer in the quarterfinal round.

Serena Williams, Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova Advance to Women's Quarterfinals
1 of 7Halfway through the eighth day at Flushing Meadows, Serena Williams has advanced to the quarterfinals. She advanced via a straight set victory over Ana Ivanovic.
Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova also upset Francesca Schiavone to join Williams in the quarterfinals.
On the men's side, Novak Djokovic will be looking to advance as well as Mardy Fish. Djokovic will have his hands full with Ukrainian Alexandr Dolgopolov, while Fish meets Jo-Wilfried Tsonga.
Serbian Janko Tipsarevic has already advanced through on the men's side after knocking off Juan Carlos Ferrero.

Venus Williams Withdraws from Tournament Before Second Round
4 of 7The big news coming out of Flushing Meadows on Wednesday was Venus Williams' withdrawal from the 2011 US Open.
She withdrew before her second round match with Sabine Lisicki after being diagnosed with Sjogren's Syndrome, a chronic disease where white blood cells attack moisture-producing glands and can cause dysfunction of organs and body systems.
She is hoping to be able to recover and find her way back onto the court, but don't expect that return anytime soon.
On the courts, Christina McHale upset No. 8 seed Mario Bartoli in straight sets 7-6, 6-2.
However, the big upset of the day came when the top seeded men's doubles team, the Bryan Brothers, were upset in the first round of doubles competition. They were knocked off by the unseeded pairing of Ivo Karlovic and Frank Moser.
Men Hold Serve While Women Get Sloppy on Opening Monday and Early Tuesday
5 of 7Roger Federer highlighted the first day of action at the US Open. And he looked as dominant as ever as he cruised to a 6-4, 6-3, 6-2 victory over his over matched and unranked opponent. And that match was typical of early play on the men's side.
There have not been any upsets, and most victories came via straight sets. The lone seeded American male, Mardy Fish, looked fantastic. He cruised in straight sets 6-2, 6-2, 6-1. The match for Fish was little more than a warmup.
Things were more interesting on the women's side. The early action on the women's side has been marred by sloppy play. Defending Wimbledon champ Petra Kvitova committed 52 unforced errors, and she was upset in straight sets.
Maria Sharapova, her opponent in the Wimbledon finals, had a similar match with different results. Sharapova committed 56 unforced errors but escaped with a three set victory.
