Dana White Responds to Bob Arum, Says He Is a "Jealous Moron"
The UFC will prepare to feature an event scheduled for November 12 on FOX. Fans are looking forward to the upcoming card; however, professional boxing promoter Bob Arum isn't one of them.
Arum recently criticised UFC President Dana White for scheduling the event on the same night as Manny Pacquiao's rubber match with Juan Maunel Marquez. Arum said the outspoken UFC boss did the move intentionally and that it would be no competition to Pacquiao's upcoming bout. In fact, Arum said a high-quality movie would serve more competition than the UFC.
In an interview on Yahoo! Sports.com, White retaliated at Arum and his stepson, Tom duBoef, who he referred to as "Todd Arum."
"Let me tell you what: Todd Arum went crazy when he found out that we were going the same night as them,” White said.
"And Bob Arum is a jealous moron," he added.
White's relationship with Arum has been brought up on previous occasions. Arum has compared mixed martial arts and ground fighting to homosexuality, while White has continuously mocked Arum for his age.
The comments from Arum were brought up to him in an interview conducted on Yahoo! Sports, where he did not disagree with his remark, but he said he isn't worried about the UFC going head-to-head with them in November.
“I wasn’t worried in the least, ever, but particularly not now, since we found out they’re going just one hour and won’t be on when Manny’s fighting," Arum said.
"Dana White and the UFC are of no consequence to me. I don’t worry about him. I don’t worry about the UFC. I don’t think of him for a second of a day."
But according to White, he believes competition is a part of sports, even if that includes competing against boxing's pound-for-pound top fighter.
“The fact of the matter is, I love the sport of boxing and it isn’t the greatest night in the world for me, either," he said.
"There are so many events out there that we have to compete with, from the NFL, Major League Baseball, the NBA, college football, college basketball, boxing. The list goes on and on. I mean, if we tried to tiptoe around dates, we’d never put on an event.”
