The defending Super Bowl Champions the Green Bay Packers will visit Lucas Oil Stadium for the first time ever this Friday night for the third preseason game of the season.
Green Bay is 1-1 this preseason as the Colts are 0-2 and have lost their last eight preseason games.
This is the first nationally televised game of the year for CBS, which before the season looked like a great matchup of the two best quarterbacks in the league with Aaron Rodgers vs. Peyton Manning. Now due to neck surgery for Manning in May he is on the PUP list and will not play.
It's ironic that this is the second-straight year the two teams will play each other in the third preseason game of the year on the exact same date August 26th.
Last year the Packers ripped the Colts 59-24. It was the most points in a preseason game for the Packers since 1938.
The last time they met in the preseason before last year was in 1996 at the RCA Dome with the Colts winning 30-6.
The last time the two met during the regular season was in 2008 at Lambeau Field, in which the Packers torched the Colts 34-14. The Packers returned two Peyton Manning interceptions for touchdowns. The returns were 62 and 99 yards respectively. Aaron Rodgers was an efficient 21 of 28 for 186 yards and a touchdown, while Peyton Manning was a miserable 21 of 42 for 229 yards and two interceptions.
The two teams have the most playoff appearances since 1993 with 13 each. They also have five Super Bowl appearances combined with three titles.
