Rams vs. Chiefs: TV Schedule, Radio and Online Live Streaming Info

Gabe ZaldivarJun 7, 2018

The St. Louis Rams descend upon Arrowhead Stadium to take on the Kansas City Chiefs. These are football clubs on opposite sides of the momentum spectrum. The third preseason game will be the most important for both clubs, and a chance to do some good for others as well.

The Rams and Chiefs will use Friday night's game to assist recovery efforts from the devastation caused by the tornado that struck Joplin, Missouri in May.

Relief workers will get to attend the game, and donations will be accepted. No matter the outcome, good will be done on the behalf of a devastated community.

As for the game, it will be a rare intense preseason affair. The fourth week is used to rest the starters, and figure out last second roster decisions. That leaves this game as the last possible opportunity for starters to prepare for the 2011 season.

Kansas City is on the wrong side of the win-loss record. Expect quarterback Matt Cassel to get more snaps as the offense tries to gain some momentum.

The Rams will be hoping to keep their players safe from harm. They are heating up at the right time, and look prepared to compete for the NFC West crown.

Let's delve deeper into this upcoming clash.

Rams' Key Addition

There are two that really catch the eye. Quintin Mikell will fit perfectly with a fluid defense that demands their players cover all parts of the field.

Mike Sims-Walker will have the biggest impact though. He will take attention off other receivers, allowing folks like Donnie Avery to shine. Sam Bradford will have a breakout campaign this year.

Chiefs' Key Addition

Kelly Gregg gives the Chiefs some grit around the ends, but Steve Breaston will make the Chiefs a more productive team.

Matt Cassel gets a burner on the wings who will add depth to the receiving corps. Breaston may need a fresh start to show what he can really do.

Rams' Biggest Loss

The St. Louis Rams are hoping to slowly build a defense that can take them from bottom feeders to post season candidates. They will miss a key defensive tackle to that end. Hovan would have been a fantastic mentor to a young staff on the rise.

Chiefs' Biggest Loss

The Chiefs are basically the same squad that you all know and love from last year. The biggest name has to be linebacker Mike Vrabel. Other than that, the Chiefs have taken care of the good majority of their free agents.

What They're Saying

Tristan Adler of Yahoo Sports breaks down the young guns that will be hoping to make their mark in 2011. These are the rookies that may have a say in how the season goes.

Sam Bradford sounds like a seasoned vet in this Washington Post piece. The second-year quarterback is preaching about consistency ahead of the Rams game against the Chiefs.

Rams' Player To Watch

There is just one player that will make or break the season, and that is Sam Bradford. The young QB was a breath of fresh air for a franchise in the dumps last year.

The key to whether he will be a star in the league will be determined in his second-year production. The Rams will be getting vertical in 2011. It is up to Bradford to make the throws that will get St. Louis to the next level.

Chiefs' Player To Watch

The Chiefs have not had the best start to the offense. They don't have the spark you would expect from a star-studded lineup.

I will be interest to see which player is willing to step up and make a statement before the season starts. That means I will have my eye on Dwayne Bowe, Jamaal Charles and, of course, Matt Cassel.

Matchup To Watch

The Chiefs need to prove that they can move the ball against a tough defense. The Rams appear to be the best opponent they will face before the season gets underway.

St. Louis may be young, but they are proving to be stout in the preseason. I will be interested to see if the Chiefs can mount a couple of successful drives on such a impending force.

Rams' Position Battle

The Rams are just about set at most areas of the field. The one area of contention is in the secondary.

The Rams will settle the deeper reaches of the corner position between Al Harris and Justin King on Friday.

Chiefs' Position Battle

With Mike Vrabel gone, the Chiefs will be looking for another player to step up as linebacker. So far, that battle is taking place between Justin Houston and Andy Studebaker.

Houston may not be ready to take the reigns, but Kansas City is pleased with what they have seen so far.

Key Storyline

This game will go a long way to determine how well each team starts the season. Bradford will be hoping to get the offense into a rhythm they can fall into once the games matter.

The Chiefs are hoping to get into winning ways. It is hard to turn the negatives into positives once the pressure of the season begins.

By next week, all the stars will get a breather. That means it is now or never to get your work in. The most vital snaps of the preseason for both teams will take place Friday.

Prediction: Rams, 24-15
