TNA IMPACT! Slamback: Get Ready For War!

Ron JohnsonNov 14, 2008

Tonight was supposed to be about celebration for the Main Event Mafia. After going 4-0 at Turning Point, the Mafia was ready to induct their newest member, Christian Cage, into the Family. But tonight, Mick Foley and Cage himself had other ideas in mind for the Mafia tonight.

So with that, here's the recap of last night's momentum changing IMPACT!

The Knockouts Continue To Cross The Line

To open the show, The Monster Queens (Rhaka Khan & Awesome Kong) locked horns with The Knockout Queens (Taylor Wilde (UQ) & Roxxi (HQ)) in a battle that has become as personal as possible. The outweighed and outmuscled Knockout Queens put up a huge fight, but unfortunately it was not enough to keep them from getting dropped like a bad habit via the interference of Raisha Saeed and the Implant Buster from Awesome Kong.

After their decisive victory, Khan and Kong went straight to Traci Brooks' office to demand competition. According to Saeed, either Brooks finds competition for her two monsters...or else. Something tells me that Brooks will find competition and in the process, put these two freaks in their place as well.

Battle Lines Are Drawn...and The War Reaches A Bigger Climax

Even though there are several side stories in this battle between the Lions and the Mafia, it all came down to who was with who. By the end of the night, there were more questions when the answers were presented. To start off the night, Mick Foley decided that it was his job to rally the troops of TNA. Foley felt embarrassed and humiliated at Turning Point due in large part to the actions of the Main Event Mafia.

Unfortunately, his words were heard from everyone except for the Motor City Machineguns. Alex Shelley was more focused on picking his nose and Chris Sabin wasn't buying into the hype of AJ Styles and Samoa Joe being the leaders of the pack. So to show that it was time for the Young Lions Club to get back on track, Foley revealed the three championship matches of the night.

For starters, Eric Young would face Sheik Abdul Bashir for the X Division Championship. Then Samoa Joe & AJ Styles would face Beer Money for the TNA Tag Team Championships. Finally, "Black Machismo" Jay Lethal will get another shot at another member of the Mafia when he faces "The Icon" Sting for the TNA World Heavyweight Championship.

Eric Young got things going on the right foot for the Young Lions Club as he got a much needed victory over the Sheik. Thanks to referee Shane Sewell's snapping, Eric Young managed to nail the Death Valley Driver to secure the victory and become the new TNA X Division Champion! In the end, the Young Lions come out to show their first sign of unity since this battle started between them and the Mafia.

But the unity became short lived as the Motor City Machineguns cost Jay Lethal the World Title. As Alex Shelley distracted the referee, Chris Sabin held Sting and prompted Lethal to hit him. But after Lethal declined the offer and tossed out Sabin, Lethal got caught in a Scorpion Death Drop to pick up the loss. Afterwards, the Lions came in and started questioning the loyalty of the Guns.

In the process of the night's events, Petey Williams tried to talk to his mentor Scott Steiner. But the Mafia had other plans as they not only decimated Williams, they left him battered, beaten and bloodied in the back. Did I forget to mention that Steiner also had a hand in the assault?

In their final chance at redemption of the night, Samoa Joe and AJ Styles took on Beer Money for the TNA World Tag Team Championships. As the Lions took the fight to the champs, Team 3D came out to do some commentary. Thanks to some outside interference from Jacqueline, the champs gained control. But thanks to a Pele from Styles, Joe is able to come in and clean house on Beer Money. But close to the end, everything breaks down, and this allows Team 3D to get some payback by spitting beer at James Storm. This also cost Joe and Styles the tag team titles.

But the final blow for the Lions came when the night was over. Thanks to Joe B. for the quick info over the past week. It was time for Christian Cage to join his new faction. An ecstatic Kurt Angle tries to express his definition of family to Cage, but a shocking revelation brings things to a halt. Angle announces that Cage and his lawyer have been in contract disputes with TNA because Cage is considering a return to WWE. So instead of a welcoming party, the Mafia decides that Cage is the next to get whacked. After delivering a Scissors Kick, a Jacknife Powebomb, an Angle Slam and a belly to belly from the top rope, the Mafia stand tall over a beaten and prone Christian Cage.

Now I can't say what I really want to say about the Main Event Mafia in a recap, but I will be delivering my two cents worth this weekend along with the Top 25. If what Mike Tenay said was right, we're all in for a rude awakening en route to Final Resolution on December 7th.
