John Cena vs. Alberto Del Rio: Top 5 Match Outcomes

Justin WatryJun 7, 2018

Now that the match is set in stone, everyone will be talking about not only how good the match will be but how the match will end.

That is what I will present today - five different outcomes as to where this thing could be headed in a few weeks in Buffalo.

Some are good options, others are not so good. The only way to find out the true answer is to wait until Night of Champions next month.

But you already knew that.

5. Del Rio Wins Clean

1 of 6

I am a big fan of Del Rio's. I am a big fan of John Cena's.

However, a clean win for the new WWE champion is unlikely next month. If you are expecting that to happen, I suggest some mental help.

It is not going to happen. If on the 0.000001% chance it does, I will gladly admit my wrong.

4. Cena Wins Clean

2 of 6

Sorry, Cena is not winning this one clean as a whistle.

Too much is on the line for Alberto to simply lose here and be done.

A lot of people are going into the PPV expecting a new WWE champion—I am not one of them.

3. Cena Wins by DQ

3 of 6

Yes, Cena has had a match against Del Rio before, and guess what?

Cena won by disqualification, and a mass beat down ensued.

That could very well be the outcomes next month, as Cena saves face, yet does not with the WWE title off of Alberto.

2. No Contest

4 of 6

Yes, a no contest is a pretty big option here.

I would not like it, but this has a very good chance of going down for a few reasons.

1. They are in Buffalo. The crowd wants to see a fight - not a winner or a loser, a fight.

2. These two have multiple PPV shows to go in this feud, so it makes no sense to end it now on a clean winner.

3. I am not sure this match gets the final slot of the PPV. Logic says it would, but I am not sure about Night of Champions closing with Del Rio/Cena.

With that being said, let's get to the most likely outcome...

1. Mark Henry Runs in and Wins the WWE Championship

5 of 6

Oh yeah! Mark Henry is going to interfere here, and beat down both Del Rio and Cena.

Then the titantron will show Teddy Long shocked backstage, as he slowly walks out of him room and down the ramp...

He starts to check out Del Rio and Cena to see if they are fine.

Teddy grabs a microphone, starts yelling at Mark Henry, then smirks and says "Ring the bell!!!", as Mark Henry pins Cena and Del Rio at the same time to become the new champion.

Okay, okay, that isn't happening - just another example of my sarcasm towards all the "fantasy booking" internet fans out there.

The real #1 option is as follows...

1. Del Rio Cheats to Steal a Pinfall Win

6 of 6

Yes, I have made it clear by now that I see Del Rio leaving as WWE champion.

That opinion is not changing one bit. Cena may have lost at two straight PPV shows, but to take the title off of Del Rio, before their big tour of Mexico in October is just stupid.

Stupid move.

Del Rio will cheat somehow. He will find a way to squeak out a pin fall. A submission win over Cena is out of the question, so expect some sort of overbooked finish with Del Rio still WWE Champion!
