Milwaukee Brewers: 5 Reasons Why the Brew Crew Will Win the World Series

Matt BowenJun 7, 2018

The Milwaukee Brewers have been MLB's best team in the second half this year.

The Brewers have taken a stranglehold on the NL Central in which they now have a nine game lead over the second-place St. Louis Cardinals. Milwaukee's record is now 77-53 on the season, including a 17-4 mark in August.

The Milwaukee Brewers play of late has spoken volumes to why they are capable of winning the World Series.

Here are five reasons why the Milwaukee Brewers will win the 2011 World Series.

No. 5: They've Gotten Better on the Road

1 of 5

Learning how to win on the road is critical for any team to have success.

The Milwaukee Brewers struggled mightily on the road early in the season. At the All-Star break the team was only 16-29 on the road. The team has since gone 14-8 since the break, including a 9-2 record in August.

The team is an MLB best 47-16 at home. Winning on the road is what makes a team like the Brewers untouchable down the stretch.

No. 4: Starting Rotation

2 of 5

The Brewers have a solid starting rotation.

Their top three pitchers, Yovani Gallardo, Zach Greinke, and Shaun Marcum are a combined 37-16 on the season. Throw in veteran lefty Randy Wolf, and the Brew Crew have four pitchers with 10-plus wins.

Although these men have only made three playoff starts combined, they were brought together to do just that. GM Doug Melvin brought in Greinke and Marcum to help Gallardo and Wolf to not only reach the postseason, but to be successful in it.

This postseason will be the Milwaukee Brewers starting rotation's time to shine.

GM Doug Melvin's ultimate plan is looking like a stroke of genius right about now.

No. 3: The Bullpen

3 of 5

Along with his mustache, Milwaukee Brewers closer John Axford is one of the best in baseball.

Axford has 37 saves on the season and hasn't had a hiccup since early in the season.

To backup Axford, Milwaukee brought in Francisco Rodriguez before the trade deadline. Rodriguez once set the record for most saves in an MLB season at 62. Together, these two men are scary to face in the eighth and ninth innings.

Along with Axford and Rodriguez, the Brewers have LaTroy Hawkins, Takshi Saito, and Kameron Loe who are pitching with a purpose right now.

This bevy of Brewers will remain a force for the rest of the season.

No. 2: Braun and Fielder

4 of 5

Ryan Braun and Prince Fielder are the best 1-2 combo in MLB. They can deliver a knockout blow before the opposition knows what hits them.

Together, the two men have a combined 53 homers, 182 RBI, 168 runs scored, 130 base-on-balls, and 58 doubles. Braun is batting .326 while Fielder is hitting .300.

The tandem is also in the top 10 in nearly all the major new-age "sexy" stats which include WAR(wins above replacement), Slugging %, On-Base % and Offensive Win %—just to name a few.

Braun also has 26 steals on the season, which make this duo an even deeper threat.

Prince Fielder is in a contract season and he doesn't look to disappoint Brewers fans. The teams tremendous roll may just be enough to keep him there for his career.

Braun and Fielder will lead the Milwaukee Brewers to a World Series title.

If there's one thing a team needs to put them over the hump, it's a unified team.

The Milwaukee Brewers have just that this year. The team has a swagger about them, an alternate personality that brings them to a perfect harmony.

The once problematic Nyjer Morgan has found a home in Milwaukee and his jovial personality has the Brew Crew groovin' at the right time.

This team is having fun and winning. They have something really special going on.

A World Series win is right around the corner.
