Fantasy Hoops Waiver Wire Bin: Volume One
I’ve scoured the fantasy basketball waiver wires to find gems, so you don’t have to.
G
Rudy Fernandez
The Rookie Spaniard has not disappointed in Portland. Through eight games, he’s averaging a robust 15.4 points per game in just 28.6 minutes.
He’s not chipping in much in other categories (2.9 rebounds per game, 2.0 assists per game), but his 93.3-percent free-throw percentage, 2.6 three-pointers per game, and 1.25 steals per game have made him more than a one-category player. He qualifies at PG and SG in Yahoo leagues.
Chris Quinn
I wasn’t expecting much from Quinn with Wade back and Michael Beasley on board, but Quinn has contributed to both Miami and to fantasy owners. He sports averages of 9.3 points, 1.7 rebounds, 2.5 assists, and 2.0 three-pointers per game.
He’s chipping in with shooting percentages as well, where he’s 50 percent from the field, 90.9 percent from the line, and 60 percent from downtown. He qualifies at PG and SG in Yahoo leagues.
F
Marquis Daniels
Marquis has stepped up his game this year, with averages of 15.0 points, 6.3 rebounds, 2.7 assists, and 1.4 steals per game. His points and rebounds are roughly double his career average.
He’s also chipping in at the charity stripe with a 91.7 percent free-throw percentage. He qualifies at both SG and SF.
Trevor Ariza
On a team full of stars, you wouldn’t expect much from the Lakers’ Ariza. However, he has been a key contributor, with averages of 10.0 points, 5.0 rebounds, 1.4 assists, and 2.0 steals. He’s shooting 50 percent from the floor and from behind the arc.
He’s dreadful at the line though, shooting 59.3 percent. Kind of puzzling.
C
Spencer Hawes
Hawes has got off to a nice start, averaging 12.9 points, 7.8 rebounds, 2.1 blocks, and 0.9 steals. He’s even contributed a three-pointer per game, which is sweet out of the Center position. He’s shooting well—53.3 percent from the floor, 56.3 percent from three, and 73.3 percent from the line.
