WWE Raw Preview: An Epic Edition Being Teased for Tonight

Tonight’s edition of Monday Night Raw is being teased as an “epic edition” of the show. The past few weeks have been a bit lackluster so I hope what WWE is teasing is true. As of this writing, this is nothing confirmed for tonight’s Raw other than WWE teasing something else.

The first thing WWE is teasing is a confrontation between Alberto Del Rio and John Cena. I don’t really see why they had to tease this. I think it was pretty obvious this was going to happen after what happened last week.

Last week while Del Rio was beating down Rey Mysterio, John Cena ran out to make the save. I was surprised as this was Cena’s one and only appearance on the show. I found it strange because he did what the typical heel does, complain about something.

He completely went off on Del Rio about how he won the WWE Title, how he has no honor, no respect, and how he wasn’t a real champion.

It’s funny; I don’t remember him doing this when Edge cashed in his title shot against him in 2005. I also don’t remember him blasting anyone else that cashed in like Del Rio. Why now?

No matter the reason, these two will end up face-to-face tonight and Alberto Del Rio vs. John Cena will be set up for Night of Champions.

Other then the obvious tease, there are other questions looming about tonight. One is the status of the Divas of Doom, Beth Phoenix and Natalya.

Last week Kelly Kelly continued her winning ways while Phoenix and Natalya stood on the ramp congratulating her. Will the Divas of Doom strike tonight? It’s possible we’ll see a no.1 contenders match of some kind with Phoenix or Natalya winning it.

With Night of Champions being four weeks away, I’d imagine we’d see Kelly’s challenger determined sooner rather than later.

Is there a Guerrero Family on the horizon? Last week, Jack Swagger told Vickie Guerrero that she was as good a manager as Jimmy Hart or Bobby Heenan, and that she should be managing more than one superstar much like they did.

Hart’s and Heenan’s group of wrestlers they managed were known as the Hart Family and the Heenan Family respectively. Could Vickie Guerrero start her own family by bringing Jack Swagger alongside United States Champion Dolph Ziggler?

The tag-team division is in a sad state. Last week we saw the team of Kofi Kingston and Evan Bourne take down the tag champs David Otunga and Michael McGillicutty.

The former Nexus members have proved that they are not helping the division. They don’t get any reaction when they head to the ring or win a match. They also don’t showcase much skill in the ring, even though they have it.

Kingston and Bourne, though, got a good reaction as a team and work quite well together. Will WWE keep them together and begin the rebuilding of the tag division with them?

The biggest question going into tonight is the status of Kevin Nash. Last week he stated that he received a text saying to take out the champ at SummerSlam. CM Punk, as well as everyone else, assumes it is Triple H. The Game swears he knows nothing about it, though.

The thing is Nash never said who he got the text message from. The message could have come from Triple H, but very easily could have been sent by Stephanie McMahon, Alberto Del Rio, Johnny Ace, or someone we’d never expect. Will Nash reveal who sent the message tonight, or will he continue to play games with CM Punk?

Tonight’s edition of Monday Night Raw shows promise, especially if they follow up on everything that happened last week. WWE is teasing that this will be an “epic edition” of Raw. It certainly can be.  

WWE has all the tools to make Raw epic every Monday, but sometimes they don’t. Tonight, it’s looking like it can be and I’m hoping that it is.
