Terrelle Pryor Perfect Fit for Miami Dolphins

Ralph LongoJun 1, 2018

As a Miami Dolphins fan, and an Ohio State fan, I'm naturally going to want Terrelle Pryor to go to the Fins in the upcoming supplemental Draft. Although my bias is very strong here, I really believe that it would be the best fit for Pryor.

To start, Pryor is clearly extremely athletic. I mean, he ran a 4.36 40-yard dash and is 6'6'' 235 pounds, which is more than enough to impress any NFL scout. Pryor would immediately fit into the backfield with Reggie Bush, who is also one of the fastest players in the league. I could see them possibly running a successful option offense due to their ability to get to the edge extremely quickly. With two guys who run in the 4.3's, Tony Sparano's offense, which was lethargic to say the least last season, would give Miami the immediate ability to go back in time to a few years ago where their wildcat formation surprised and confused everyone. They would be able to get extremely creative with their offense overnight.

The second reason Terrelle Pryor fits into Miami is that he has the potential to be a better quarterback than anyone currently on their roster does. The Dolphins acquired Matt Moore, who frankly isn't good enough to be an NFL starter, and Chad Henne is about finished with his nine lives. Chad simply hasn't been able to be anything better than average during his career. He's thrown only 27 touchdowns against 33 interceptions in his career, and the offense seems to sputter every time they get into the red zone. Miami was first in the NFL in field goal attempts, which is a testament to how hard it was for them to score touchdowns once they got near the end zone. Pryor to me is an underrated passer who is more accurate than Henne and is equal if not better in arm strength.

Pryor also has the ability to create outside the pocket, and turn broken plays into positive gains, something Henne can't do. He seriously lacks mobility both inside and outside the pocket. With Pryor can extend the play and give Brandon Marshall and Davone Bess time to get open. I don't know if I can stand another season of Chad Henne just falling down in the pocket when a little bit of pressure is put on him because he's too unathletic to escape.

Finally, Terrelle Pryor could play almost any skilled offensive position. He already showed two years ago that he could catch a pass, so I don't think he'd have a problem with converting to Tight End or Wide Receiver, and he said he'd be willing to make a switch if it would help whatever team he goes too.

The bottom line is that in Terrelle Pryor, you get an athletic, flexible player who will be an asset to whatever team decides to pick him up. Hopefully come tomorrow's draft, it will be the Miami Dolphin.
