The Official 2011-12 National Football League of Taiwan Power Rankings

Washington's BulletJun 3, 2018

The 2011-2012 draft of the National Football League of Taiwan, much like the inspiration of my team name, is positioned to receive deep, penetrating analysis.

Enjoy this fun little ride. I tried to do the best I could to recap the draft results from our league.

I can't claim that my order is perfect, and like fantasy football itself, it can change rapidly.

Good luck!

90000000001: Dilldog

1 of 12
1.(2)Michael Turner(Atl - RB)
2.(23)Green Bay(GB - DEF)
3.(26)Jason Witten(Dal - TE)
4.(47)Dustin Keller(NYJ - TE)
5.(50)Sebastian Janikowski(Oak - K)
6.(71)Eli Manning(NYG - QB)
7.(74)Johnny Knox(Chi - WR)
8.(95)Mike Tolbert(SD - RB)
9.(98)Hines Ward(Pit - WR)
10.(119)Justin Tuck(NYG - DE)
11.(122)Sam Bradford(StL - QB)
12.(143)Darrelle Revis(NYJ - CB)
13.(146)Mike DeVito(NYJ - DE)
14.(167)Nate Burleson(Det - WR)
15.(170)Willis McGahee(Den - RB)
16.(191)Jordan Shipley(Cin - WR)
17.(194)Eric Smith(NYJ - S)
18.(215)Detroit(Det - DEF)

We have seen it before.

If memory serves, in the 2009 season my brother screwed up his auto-pick settings and chose two tight ends with his first 2 picks.

History has a way of repeating itself.

Taking Michael Turner with the second overall pick is bad enough, but picking Green Bay's defense with a second round pick?  Unforgivable! That's almost as bad as choosing Seattle D with the fourth overall.

We witnessed a third and fourth round of TE and a back-up TE, followed by a kicker in the fifth.

While it is true that anything can happen in a fantasy season, I think it is safe crown Dilldog with the 12th place tiara.

Good luck on the waiver wire!

9001: Turd and Long

2 of 12
1.(7)Chris Johnson(Ten - RB)
2.(18)Hakeem Nicks(NYG - WR)
3.(31)Shonn Greene(NYJ - RB)
4.(42)Mike Williams(TB - WR)
5.(55)Ben Roethlisberger(Pit - QB)
6.(66)Kenny Britt(Ten - WR)
7.(79)Zach Miller(Sea - TE)
8.(90)New York(NYJ - DEF)
9.(103)Mason Crosby(GB - K)
10.(114)Mike Vrabel(KC - LB)
11.(127)Darnell Dockett(Ari - DT)
12.(138)Bryan McCann(Dal - CB)
13.(151)Ryan Williams(Ari - RB)
14.(162)Kevin Kolb(Ari - QB)
15.(175)Roy Williams(Chi - WR)
16.(186)Danario Alexander(StL - WR)
17.(199)San Diego(SD - DEF)
18.(210)Matt Bryant(Atl - K)

Turd and Long is not afraid to roll the dice.  With Chris Johnson holding out, and Kenny Britt's potential suspension, this team could fall to pieces.  If both of these guys avoid trouble, however, then the gamble pays off and this is a team to reckon with.

Especially nice move backing up your kicker.

Love the Ryan Williams pick too.  That guy is really going to tear it up this year.*

* - By tear it up I am specifically referring to tearing all the tendons attached to his right patella and taking 10 months to recover.

10: Mitt Monster

3 of 12
1.(11)Rashard Mendenhall(Pit - RB)
2.(14)Drew Brees(NO - QB)
3.(35)Vincent Jackson(SD - WR)
4.(38)Wes Welker(NE - WR)
5.(59)Daniel Thomas(Mia - RB)
6.(62)Kellen Winslow(TB - TE)
7.(83)Marshawn Lynch(Sea - RB)
8.(86)Mike Sims-Walker(StL - WR)
9.(107)LaRon Landry(Was - S)
10.(110)Fred Jackson(Buf - RB)
11.(131)Davone Bess(Mia - WR)
12.(134)Terrell Suggs(Bal - LB)
13.(155)Ryan Fitzpatrick(Buf - QB)
14.(158)Garrett Hartley(NO - K)
15.(179)Yeremiah Bell(Mia - S)
16.(182)San Francisco(SF - DEF)
17.(203)Justin Smith(SF - DE)
18.(206)

Terrell Owens(Cin - WR)

Let's look at the positives.  Drew Brees is of the best QBs in the game, Vincent Jackson and Wes Welker are great WRs, and I personally feel that Winslow is looking at a break out year.  The situation is perfect for him.

I don't love the RB situation, but no one can say there isn't great upside there.

In fact, now that I am looking at this team again I think it has a good chance of making the playoffs.  And when that happens I hope I am there to play against this squad; because let's face it, meeting Mitt Monster in the playoffs is as good as a bye!

9: Wizzards

4 of 12
1.(4)Jamaal Charles(KC - RB)
2.(21)Philip Rivers(SD - QB)
3.(28)Miles Austin(Dal - WR)
4.(45)Vernon Davis(SF - TE)
5.(52)Austin Collie(Ind - WR)
6.(69)Owen Daniels(Hou - TE)
7.(76)Knowshon Moreno(Den - RB)
8.(93)Julio Jones(Atl - WR)
9.(100)Jordy Nelson(GB - WR)
10.(117)Joseph Addai(Ind - RB)
11.(124)Darren Sproles(NO - RB)
12.(141)New Orleans(NO - DEF)
13.(148)Lance Moore(NO - WR)
14.(165)Antrel Rolle(NYG - S)
15.(172)Charles Woodson(GB - CB)
16.(189)David Buehler(Dal - K)
17.(196)Elvis Dumervil(Den - LB)
18.(213)Mathias Kiwanuka(NYG - LB,DE)

Statistically, Wizzards has the highest winning percentage in the league.  In our first season, which only included 6 teams, Wizzards defeated me in the finals and took the championship.  Sometimes I wake in the middle of the night in a cold sweat after a nightmarish dream about that day.  No big deal though, I usually just bang out a number 3 and go right back to bed.

Now, he has returned to with the intention of reclaiming his throne... just not with this squad.

Jamaal Charles and Philip Rivers are beasts.

The problem is that Austin Collie is not really a threat because he gets a concussion every time he sneezes and Vernon Davis can't get a ball thrown his way to save his life.

How much do you really trust Miles Austin?  That's what I thought.

8: British Petroleum

5 of 12
1.(3)Adrian Peterson(Min - RB)
2.(22)Frank Gore(SF - RB)
3.(27)Peyton Manning(Ind - QB)
4.(46)Jeremy Maclin(Phi - WR)
5.(51)Stevie Johnson(Buf - WR)
6.(70)Sidney Rice(Sea - WR)
7.(75)Santana Moss(Was - WR)
8.(94)Mark Ingram(NO - RB)
9.(99)Ryan Grant(GB - RB)
10.(118)Jonathan Stewart(Car - RB)
11.(123)Mike Thomas(Jac - WR)
12.(142)Joe Flacco(Bal - QB)
13.(147)Jared Cook(Ten - TE)
14.(166)Alex Henery(Phi - K)
15.(171)T.J. Ward(Cle - S)
16.(190)Derrick Johnson(KC - LB)
17.(195)Atlanta(Atl - DEF)
18.(214)Kyle Williams(Buf - DT)

BP always seems to find a way into the post-season.

I underestimate his team every year. I am tempted to say that Ryan Grant can't get it done anymore and Peyton Manning is due for a statistical decline, but every year it seems I am wrong.

I like the Stevie Johnson pickup (make me an offer!) and both Maclin and Gore are excellent.  I will go out on a limb and say that this is the deepest team in the league as well.

But is it good enough to compete with...

7: Toed Up

6 of 12
1.(1)Arian Foster(Hou - RB)
2.(24)Tom Brady(NE - QB)
3.(25)Antonio Gates(SD - TE)
4.(48)Brandon Lloyd(Den - WR)
5.(49)Marques Colston(NO - WR)
6.(72)DeAngelo Williams(Car - RB)
7.(73)Jimmy Graham(NO - TE)
8.(96)Beanie Wells(Ari - RB)
9.(97)Pierre Garcon(Ind - WR)
10.(120)Brian Urlacher(Chi - LB)
11.(121)Malcom Floyd(SD - WR)
12.(144)Ndamukong Suh(Det - DT)
13.(145)Neil Rackers(Hou - K)
14.(168)Jay Cutler(Chi - QB)
15.(169)Visanthe Shiancoe(Min - TE)
16.(192)Terrell Thomas(NYG - CB)
17.(193)Roy Helu(Was - RB)
18.(216)Oakland(Oak - DEF)

Arian Foster had just under 400 fantasy points last year.  The closest person to him was 80 points away.  If he can repeat last years numbers, and Stew can remember to sub in his players each week, then this is a team to reckon with.

Loads of upside with Jimmy Graham, but can Lloyd, Gates, Cathy Coonce and DeAngelo repeat their performances from previous years?

Nice Suh pickup too, I wanted that guy.

6: Illuminati All-Stars

7 of 12
1.(10)Aaron Rodgers(GB - QB)
2.(15)Maurice Jones-Drew(Jac - RB)
3.(34)Greg Jennings(GB - WR)
4.(39)Steven Jackson(StL - RB)
5.(58)Chad Ochocinco(NE - WR)
6.(63)Tony Gonzalez(Atl - TE)
7.(82)Steve Smith(Car - WR)
8.(87)Philadelphia(Phi - DEF)
9.(106)Jerod Mayo(NE - LB)
10.(111)LaDainian Tomlinson(NYJ - RB)
11.(130)Mike Williams(Sea - WR)
12.(135)Donte Whitner(SF - S)
13.(154)David Akers(SF - K)
14.(159)Jared Allen(Min - DE)
15.(178)Devin Hester(Chi - WR)
16.(183)Mark Sanchez(NYJ - QB)
17.(202)Todd Heap(Ari - TE)
18.(207)Cam Newton(Car - QB)

There is a lot to like in this starting lineup, fortunately for those playing again the All-Stars, there is a lot not to like as well.

Let's be honest, Ochocinco hasn't gotten separation from a CB in about 4 years.  MJD is in a rapid and steady decline. Tony Gonzalez is old enough to remember Mary in her supplest of years.

She wasn't always a saint.

5: Yellow Team

8 of 12
1.(5)Michael Vick(Phi - QB)
2.(20)Jermichael Finley(GB - TE)
3.(29)DeSean Jackson(Phi - WR)
4.(44)Dwayne Bowe(KC - WR)
5.(53)Anquan Boldin(Bal - WR)
6.(68)Felix Jones(Dal - RB)
7.(77)Reggie Bush(Mia - RB)
8.(92)Steve Smith(Phi - WR)
9.(101)Kyle Orton(Den - QB)
10.(116)Tim Hightower(Was - RB)
11.(125)New York(NYG - DEF)
12.(140)Aldon Smith(SF - LB,DE)
13.(149)Rashad Jennings(Jac - RB)
14.(164)Lee Evans(Bal - WR)
15.(173)Pierre Thomas(NO - RB)
16.(188)Steve Breaston(KC - WR)
17.(197)Kevin Boss(Oak - TE)
18.(212)Tyvon Branch(Oak - S)

If fantasy points were awarded according the the length of one's arms, then Yellow team might as well walk away with the 16-bit trophy now.  BECAUSE THAT WAS SOME SERIOUS REACHING!

Taking Jermichael Finley in the second round?  He might be good, but he is as unproven as any rookie.

Other than that obviously man-crush inspired stretch, this is a strong team.

Good late value as well with Hightower, Jennings, and Breaston.  In a PPR, these guys all have increased value.

Boldin gets a bump too since Baltimore released Derrick Mason.  He could easily see 90 catches this year.

4: Papa Bear Brandon

9 of 12
1.(12)Darren McFadden(Oak - RB)
2.(13)LeSean McCoy(Phi - RB)
3.(36)Tony Romo(Dal - QB)
4.(37)Mike Wallace(Pit - WR)
5.(60)Santonio Holmes(NYJ - WR)
6.(61)Mario Manningham(NYG - WR)
7.(84)Deion Branch(NE - WR)
8.(85)Chris Cooley(Was - TE)
9.(108)BenJarvus Green-Ellis(NE - RB)
10.(109)Baltimore(Bal - DEF)
11.(132)Plaxico Burress(NYJ - WR)
12.(133)Brandon Jacobs(NYG - RB)
13.(156)Rob Gronkowski(NE - TE)
14.(157)Stephen Gostkowski(NE - K)
15.(180)Robert Mathis(Ind - DE)
16.(181)Ed Reed(Bal - S)
17.(204)Chris Long(StL - DE)
18.(205)Donovan McNabb(Min - QB)

After 4 years of being a non-factor, it looks like Papa Bear Brandon is finally getting serious.

With McFadden as a solid starter, combined with a solid WR core, this is a team to contend with. He even managed to draft well and still land the man of the same name, better body.

The only problem I see is LeSean McCoy.  You should really trade that guy, he is a real injury concern and will lose tons of touches to Ronnie Brown.  Since I am a nice guy I will trade you for him to help you out, feel free to make me an offer.

If Romo can hold it together, and Plaxico makes a comeback, then this could be the year Papa Bear sniffs the playoffs.

3: 20K Down

10 of 12
1.(8)Andre Johnson(Hou - WR)
2.(17)Larry Fitzgerald(Ari - WR)
3.(32)Ahmad Bradshaw(NYG - RB)
4.(41)LeGarrette Blount(TB - RB)
5.(56)Brandon Marshall(Mia - WR)
6.(65)Matt Schaub(Hou - QB)
7.(80)Pittsburgh(Pit - DEF)
8.(89)Brandon Pettigrew(Det - TE)
9.(104)Nate Kaeding(SD - K)
10.(113)Cassius Vaughn(Den - CB)
11.(128)Tyjuan Hagler(Ind - LB)
12.(137)Shaun Smith(Ten - DT)
13.(152)Matthew Stafford(Det - QB)
14.(161)Michael Bush(Oak - RB)
15.(176)Jerome Simpson(Cin - WR)
16.(185)Robert Meachem(NO - WR)
17.(200)Dallas(Dal - DEF)
18.(209)

Aaron Hernandez(NE - TE)

What can I say about this WR core?  It doesn't get much better than A. Johnson, Fitzgerald, and Marshall.

Schaub and Pettigrew are no slouches either.

The RB core could use a little work but it isn't terrible.  If they can just be average then this is going to be a tough team to beat.

No jokes here, you got to get serious when this guy is sitting across the fantasy felt.

2: Fap Fap De Derp

11 of 12
1.(6)Ray Rice(Bal - RB)
2.(19)Reggie Wayne(Ind - WR)
3.(30)Matt Forte(Chi - RB)
4.(43)Dez Bryant(Dal - WR)
5.(54)Matt Ryan(Atl - QB)
6.(67)Jahvid Best(Det - RB)
7.(78)Danny Amendola(StL - WR)
8.(91)Marcedes Lewis(Jac - TE)
9.(102)Trent Cole(Phi - DE)
10.(115)Jacoby Ford(Oak - WR)
11.(126)Braylon Edwards(SF - WR)
12.(139)New England(NE - DEF)
13.(150)Jon Beason(Car - LB)
14.(163)Matt Cassel(KC - QB)
15.(174)Adam Vinatieri(Ind - K)
16.(187)Roman Harper(NO - S)
17.(198)C.J. Spiller(Buf - RB)
18.(211)Greg Little(Cle - WR)

This is another monster team.  Both starting RBs are undeniably RB1s.  Wayne, Bryant, and Amendola are all solid, yet offer upside as well.

Furthermore, the bench is menacing; it might be able to beat a few teams by itself.

What the is up with the name though?  Tool has nothing to do with fantasy football!

1: Debbiewoods@cams.com

1.(9)Roddy White(Atl - WR)
2.(16)Calvin Johnson(Det - WR)

5.(57)Ryan Mathews(SD - RB)
6.(64)Percy Harvin(Min - WR)
7.(81)Cedric Benson(Cin - RB)
8.(88)Josh Freeman(TB - QB)
9.(105)Patrick Willis(SF - LB)
10.(112)A.J. Green(Cin - WR)
11.(129)Danny Woodhead(NE - RB)
12.(136)Chicago(Chi - DEF)
13.(153)Eric Berry(KC - S)
14.(160)Julius Peppers(Chi - DE)
15.(177)Michael Crabtree(SF - WR)
16.(184)Jacob Tamme(Ind - TE)
17.(201)Jerome Harrison(Det - RB)
18.(208)James Starks(GB - RB)

Well, this fun little journey had to end somewhere.  I guess it just makes sense that the last stop is with the living legend, the man with the most championships.

Stories still bounce around about the unforgettable season of 2009 (the same year I dunked on Chris and bruised his side).  Against all odds, I won both fantasy leagues after being kicked off of Yahoo for several weeks for having gay porn as my icon.  Nice one Reeder, I even opened that in class.  The Thai's sitting behind me have never even seen porn that graphic, and they have ping pong ball shows.

Feel free to salivate over my list of players, I don't need to tell you about their dominance, it should be fairly evident.

I look forward to collecting your money and obnoxiously gloating about it as usual.
