Daily Market Wrap Up: Thursday Night NFL Showdown
Moving Today's Market.
The game of the week in the NFL could be the one being played tonight between the Jets and Patriots. The winner will have sole possession of first place in the AFC East. The line opened with the Patriots -4 at Pinnacle and moved to -3 at most sportsbooks monitored by Sports Insights.
At the beginning of the day the Patriots were receiving slightly more spread bets, but as the day has progressed the Jets are now receiving 51 percent of the wagers. New England will reportedly be without running back Sammy Morris, and LaMont Jordan is listed as doubtful.
In college football, Virginia Tech at Miami is getting most of the media attention, but the MAC showdown between Buffalo and Akron has seen more interesting movement in the betting market. Akron opened at -2 with Pinnacle and increased to -3 after two Steam moves were triggered at Catalina (+2.10 units) and Skybook (+8.90 units).
Some sportsbooks, monitored by Sports Insights, moved the line all the way to -3.5 before a Steam Move on Buffalo at Skybook (+8.90 units) and Bet Jamaica (+11.10 units) brought it back down. These moves have not prevented the public from backing Akron. They have received 57% of the public wagers, and also triggered a Smart money alert at ThePig (+5.40 units)
